Nice, but...

A comfortable property, but showing signs of wear. Rooms were clean and spacious, but not worth the price charged. The front desk staff friendly, but rather slow. Unlike other area properties, the Red Lion charges, a nominal fee, for breakfast further limiting the cost-value ratio of the property. In addition, I requested two queen beds, but was initially told that the room I reserved had only one queen bed. To accommodate my request the front desk charged me an additional $20.00 upgrade fee.

two year anniversery

We spent a night here 2 years ago so we knew it was a pretty nice hotel for an ok price. We went to eat at the stetsons steakhouse in town and it was amazing with amazing service. It really was very similer to our trip 2 years ago. Not amazing but fun and affordable.

Gorgeous View...For a Price

Everything about the hotel was very nice. There was a little confusion over our request for 2 beds, though. I was traveling with my dad, and when we booked the room the description said "queen beds" so we assumed it meant there were 2 beds in the room. When we checked in, they wanted to charge us an additional $10 for a room with 2 beds - claiming that the description online was incorrect. Also, the "continental breakfast" is NOT free. It's $4.95 per person, so by the time we left the tip, that added another $12 to the cost of the room. In other words, the cost of the room wound up being about $30-35 more than the displayed price once we added the bed upgrade, the breakfast, and the tax. The BEST part of this hotel, however, is the gorgeous view from the breakfast area. The long bank of big windows provided a beautiful panorama of the blue mountains! Spectacular!!

Don't miss Pendleton's river path.

The Red Lion sits on a high hill commanding a stunning panorama of the rolling grain country surrounding Pendleton, and the lobby, lounge, dining room, and the upscale rooms share the view. The room was clean, modern, and quiet, and the staff was professional and helpful. The hotel is right off the freeway with access to fuel and food. A big surprise in Pendleton for us was a 7-mile bike/walking paved path along the Pendleton River, about a mile from the hotel.

Adequate, Older Hotel

The hotel was advertised as "pet friendly" on the Orbitz web site. Although I looked, I did not find any mention of notifying the hotel that we were traveling with a small dog. The clerk registering us was somewhat upset that we hadn't called to tell them we had a dog! We had to pay extra for a ground floor room so we could easily walk the dog. There are many other motel/hotel options in the area, so we won't return to the Red Lion again.

Best kept secret revealed

We were very fortunate to see a deer near the pond the day we arrived and the next morning after breakfast. We have a dog and the hotel was very pet friendly. Although we didn't have a view from our room we were still able to enjoy it from other areas of the hotel. The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been a fridge and microwave in the room. Other than that we had a great time!

Breakfast in the restaurant was very good but a little pricey. But the view makes it worth it. Especially if the pool guy is working. His antics can be pretty entertaining.

Red Lino in Pendleton OR

The staff was very helpful, My wife was on crutches and they were generous with the wheel chair. Room was small compared to the Bestwestern nest door. red lion had no fridge, The bestwestern was also cheaper. The red Lion wasn't a good value for the area. was charged to print my airline boarding passes, cost $13
