The hotel was in a gorgeous location with a great view out my room window. The room was clean and housekeeping kept it stocked. The desk clerk was very helpful with local services. For the price, <$70, it was a great value.

Making Waves

The hotel had a couple minor problems,i.e. the toilet wouldn't stop running after it was flushed, the noise from the people above was annoying from walking across the floor(not their fault). The continental breakfast was somewhat sparse. All in all the staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean and presentable. The outside appearance could use some help...a work in progress it appears.

A little beach bummed

I think I had imagined the place being nicer than it was so my expectations were not met. It felt really cheap and dirty and 'motel'. For the price I should have just gone with something where I would have felt like I was vacationing. I didn't enjoy coming back to this room to end my day. I just feel like if you are going to pay any amount of money to stay somewhere it should have hospitality and be special even if your budget is small. It wasn't the worst place ever... I was just hoping for a higher standard of excellence. Next time we will stay in a 'chain' hotel I think and not some 'unknown'. Again, nothing wrong with the service or anything... Just didn't satisfy my desires I guess. Next time I won't let the description or pictures fully determine my decision. I must remember that a good camera can make a lot of places look good and flowery words can sell anything.

Every Room with a View

My wife and I wanted a quiet place to get away to on the Oregon Coast for a week at an affordable price. Waves of Newport more than satisfied. The rooms are not really fancy but they are comfortable and very affordable. We loved our ocean view and the fact we were only across a quiet residential street from the ocean. Every night we went to sleep to the sound of surf softly crashing outside our window. The hotel provided a limited but tasty breakfast and it more than met our needs. The huge homemade cinnamon rolls were a real treat. The microwave and refrigerator in the room were nice for having snacks. Every day we started out by going down to the beach and just soaking up some sun, reading, and relaxing on one of the beaches within a block or two south of our hotel. Lunch and dinner at local spots and were wonderful. The Nye Beach Green Gables Italian Cafe was a special romantic dinner, La Roca for Mexican in Lincoln City was inexpensive and authentic food from Oaxaca Mexico, and the Newport Cafe was the seafood place for the locals and we loved it. Other fun we enjoyed was the Discovery Cruise we took for two hours from the old bay front in Newport. That was a highlight going out onto the ocean to see gray whales, and then up river for some marine mammal sightings. Captain [...] and his wife [...] who handle the cruise were a hoot and super willing to serve. Of course a few shopping visits to Nye Beach stores and galleries were also a must. Last but not least the hotel is run with a family atmosphere, very quiet, and very helpful. This trip was one for the memory books and we will be back again for sure.
