Pretty much a dump

I should have known when I talked to the manager on the phone before I got there - she was not friendly or helpful. The room was very dirty the beds were terrrible - looked like 25 yr old matteresses and they slept like more than that. Fortunately Newport has lots to do and we weren't in the room much.

Aquarium was great, claims to be the best in the county, but I think Monterry is better.

Beach situatted at end of side

Beach situatted at end of side road. Newport is an old established resort, and a lot of the hotels at Newport do look "tired" from the outside, I can confirm this one is "tired" on the inside as well. It does need renovation. Breakfast was reasonable, we had worse at many other hotels on our trip.

Not bad, not great.

First off, the wi-fi didn't work in my room. Kindof a bummer, but the staff found an ethernet cable i could borrow. The cleaners they use are very strong-smelling, but after airing out the room, it was fine. Had a little view of the ocean, and also a small gravel road right in front of the room- it was little-used- just annoying every once in a while. The continental breakfast is really poor- just shrink-wrapped bagels and muffins. Oh- and some fresh fruit. Overall, mediocre.

Needs Updating

[...] The room, was just a room, though it was and older building and even though it was clean, it seemed dingy. I would not go back to this hotel. I'd rather pay more and have a higher quality room & friendlier staff. Though the staff was much. much friendlier when we checked out. They could have been having a bad day, but after driving in a car for 10-12 hours, your bad day just made mine worse. Also we got in a little late and had a hard time finding a place to eat. There are a few places open 24 hrs. :) Newport Cafe put us in a better mood!

Mixed Review

The area is nice, great beaches, OR Coast Aquarium, Bay side shopping, and plenty of beautiful roads to cruise along the beach. The hotel is an older building and you can hear the people in the rooms around you. Over all the stay was pleasant, but I will probably stay somewhere else next time.

Adequate accomodations

Our room was small, 1 queen. Furnishings were up to date. Refridgerator was noisy and woke us up both nights. We could hear the plumbing in the walls when adjacent room water, toilet, shower were used.
