Dirty! Dirty! Dirty!

So disappointed! I wasn't expecting the Ritz but seriously have they ever heard of a vacuum? We were spending 1 night in Grants Pass, taking the jet boats up the Rogue river and then heading onto the Redwoods. All we wanted was a place to crash after a 5 hour drive. I don't want anything fancy just cleanliness will do. The staff at the front desk was nice enough, but she put us in a room at the far corner of the 2nd floor and there was no elevator! So much fun lugging our heavy bags upstairs! And the stairs were truly the dirtiest things I've ever seen...UGH!! Got to our room and right away I could tell the A/C wasn't working. The girl came to take a look and told us she didn't know how to fix it so she'd move us. Lugged the bags back down the nasty steps and all the way around to the other side of the hotel. Not the end of the world but also not the funnest thing I've ever done after a long day. Got to the new room and it reeked of cigarette smoke and air purifier - GROSS! Again, the hallways were so dirty in this place that the room itself, even though it looked relatively clean, gave me the willies! The bed was awfully hard, the sheets stiff and itchy and the floor could've used a vacuum. Needless to say we kept our bags up off the floor, slept as well as could be expected and high-tailed it out of there in the morning! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Try the Redwoods motel down the street - it looked modern, clean and inviting and we heard they have great rates!

Just a short walk to Della's if you want more than the Continental breakfast. Nice wholesome food and friendly.

Never Again

Pet dander and mold spores from the a/c unit made my stay horrible. I couldn't breath and was up all night congested. The next morning my eyes were swollen and irritated. A two seat couch was the only thing in the very small front desk area to sit and eat. Standard contential breakfast was hard, dry biscuts and danish. People had to wait in line just to get to the coffee because of the cramp area and poor layout of the food. We were scheduled to stay on our trip to and from California, because of the first night I refused to stay there again on my way back through on Aug. 8, 2010. I would never stay there again.

secong thoughts on the Shilo Inn

We got there and the staff was not friendly at all. We could not park close to our room. The Outside doors were left open during the day, leaving the motel open to anyone that wanted to enter the hall ways. The hall way trash cans were over flowing and the carpet in the wall ways was coming up making it a tripping hazard. I dont think that I would stay there again...
