Started out nice, ended on a sour note

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. It is definitely dated and old in appearance but being the only hotel on the beach makes the sacrifice worth it, usually. There is a new updated pool faciility that is great for adults and kids alike. The restaraunt is beautiful with an amazing view. There was a lot of construction going on at the hotel & for reasons unknown by me they placed us in a room very near the construction site. We awoke around 7:15 am to hammering and then sawing. The front desk was not sympathetic nor did they offer an apology. We were then discounted because we had booked through a third party. We were not looking for a refund we were looking for an "I'm sorry, I will let the manager know so he can speak with the contractors." The front desk clerk was rude to us again as we walked in the lobby to get to the beach. It was a disappointing end to a lovely start.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Most entertainment available is in "old town" Florence or at Three Rivers Casino. Most restaraunts and lounges close around 9:00 on weekdays and 10:00 on weekends but the casino is open late!

Perfect View

the Hotel is next to the Beach, every room has a balkony and you can enjoy the Sunset!! The rooms itself are a little bit old fashioned but clean and big enough! There are some good restaurants nearby and we enjoyed our stay at Kyllo's.

Nice Stay

We enjoyed our stay. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel because of various activities. One being a dune buggy ride. That was a blast! We also got to watch a wedding on the beach, from our room. That was pretty cool.

Take the hour long dune buggy ride. It's not cheap but it's a blast and the hour seemed to go as fast as the ride.

3 days to play

The room was really clean with a balcony and ocean view. Staff was great. Restaurant was outstanding! The only complaint was the bed was so soft you 'sunk' into it, and the elevators are really slow--its faster to use the stairs. Beach access is right in the back of the hotel. Miles of beachfront to walk. Vending, pool, and kids play area located in separate facility, with easy access. Overall, it was a great experience.

Restaurant is a little pricey, but worth the experience. All tables overlook the ocean. Awesome chef inspired dishes.

Anniv. trip

This is the ONLY beach front hotel on this part of the Or. coast, so they could ask anything they want, but the price was LOWER than places on Hwy 101 WITHOUT beach view/acess. Did this on short notice, on limited funds & it was GREAT.Nice clean room, good bed, FANTASTIC view, great onsite ammenities. My only complaint, HORRIBLE inroom coffee ! LOL. This area is the coffee drinking capital of the world, PLEASE upgrade the coffee ! To be fair, in 3 days in Florence, we only found one place with drinkable coffee(non-coffe shop). We will be back & have already told others !! Thank you !

Fun,Fog,Funky

Great views from everywhere, great roaring sound, solid and aesthetically pleasing restaurant, very fun swim/spa/kid's water activity building. The building gets beaten by the harsh central coast climate but the room was clean, quiet, pleasant with a well appointed kitchen. We all felt happy and thrilled to just walk out onto miles and miles of Heceta beach. Only drawback was smelling smoker's from the balcony BUT the room didn't smell of smoke at all (my pet peeve).

Great venue for breakfast (watching the beach activities and ocean surf). Other great restaurant experience in Old Town: Restobar, good food and pleasant service.

Needs improvement

I had reserved a smoking room and when arrived were told none were avaliable and then blamed the mix-up on me.This made it very inconvenient as we had to go outside to smoke with a paper cup as an ash tray. The room was nothing like what was indicated on the web site. The bed was fairly comfortable but the pillows were hard and very uncomfortable, brick comes to mind. The room was not that clean, and we had to leave note inorder to get aminities replaced that were used up, coffee, shampoo, etc. When we checked out having spent the last for days having to go outside in the wet and cold to smoke were told that house keeping said their was smoking in the room and burn holes in the sheets, and then charged an extra $100 dollars. All in all I would say that the rooms at this "resort" are extermley over priced. I have been to other cities on the Oregon coast, and stayed in other hotels with much better accomadations, a comparable view and paid 30% to 50% less.

Most of the resturants in Florence Oregon close aroung 9 pm. Bars around 10 to 11pm. We learned not to assume that things stay open as late as they do in our home town.

Good value Oregon Coast trip

Great value, location and the restaurant made it absolutely worth it. Highly recommend you check out the restaurant for dinner!! Great service and prices and a walk to your hotel room! The gym/pool area were not bad and great views from the rooms, and added bonus to have a basic breakfast and popcorn during the day!
