We were there for an overnight to attend a family affair. The location was perfect to get on a main street to reach the area we were going to and also to get on the free way to go home the next day. We had no special needs, but all the staff were friendly.

Eugene, Oregon

We were very pleased with our stay at the Red Lion. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. (We had an end unit.) The staff was friendly and helpful. A big plus is the van that picks up and delivers to the airport. There are quite a few restaurants within a two mile drive.

A Nice Surprise

Booked our room for a visit to our daughter at U of O, because the Red Lion was recommended online. Hotel is right next to the freeway offramp and looked a little shabby outside. However, the room turned out to be on an inside courtyard and was actually very quiet. Standard queen non-smoking room with a nice, large bathroom. All very clean and fresh. We chose the late evening check-in and everything went very smoothly. It's right across the street from a major shopping center, with two grocery stores within walking distance. [...] we would definitely stay there again when we visit our daughter. All in all a very nice, convenient surprise!

Not impressed.

Way too expensive for a very ordinary room. Breakfast not included; that is so rare these days. Locks were sticky; almost got locked in the bathroom. Made reservations 6 months ago, requested ground rooms for two children and a sister with knee problems. They put us upstairs, and didn't have the reservations I made for an additional night. People I've spoken too in Eugene do not recommend the Red Lion and I can see why. We have family in Eugene and will not be staying at the Red Lion again.

tough time in eugene

A long wait at the airport for a shuttle. Arrived on shuttle to hotel, but was given a room at the far end of the hotel...a long walk w/luggage. Awoke at first light to the idle of a large diesel parked [overnite] at the hotel. all and all I have to say that this will be my LAST stay at Red Lion

Some good some not so good

My husband and I traveled to Eugene to visit relatives, play golf, and attend a 4 day dog agility trial. I made a reservation at the Red Lion 7 weeks in advance of our stay. When we arrived at the hotel, I showed the desk clerks my printed out reservation confirmation and they said they had no record at all of it. [...] For some odd reason, it was listed under the name "Middle" instead of my own name, even though my printed confirmation listed my correct name. During the 4 day stay we had to return to the front desk to have our room key cards redone because they would stop working. On the third day the front desk clerk told me that I was probably keeping my card too close to my cell phone. When I asked her how close is too close, she acted annoyed and didn't answer. The phone and the card were about 6 inches apart in my purse.Other than the unhelpful desk clerks, the rooms were nicely furnished and were clean, and the room we were in was far enough from the freeway to be fairly quiet. The shower head was annoying, either a fine needle spray, a firehose, or a small pulsing jet, but the microwave, frig, and hairdryer worked well. I would recommend this hotel.

Good location.

Hotel was just average and may soon need some upgrading; however, the price was right and we liked the location as it was very accessible. There's a very nice shopping center across the street. Not too many restaurants within walking distance, especially for dinner; however, we had a car so this was not a problem. The hotel has early morning breakfast available at a nominal price ($4.25 or so p/p) and it was OK for our needs. Hotel staff were helpful.

Excellent location

I was in Eugene for a week on business. When I first arrived, I was a little taken back that there is only outside access to the rooms and I would have to walk outside to get breakfast each morning. I asked for the inner rooms which were away from road noise and it was great. I liked the rooms with micro and fridge and many stations on the TV. I would love to have this room again on the ground floor. You have to pay for the Internet by credit card. I did not do it. I went into the lobby each night to use their computer instead. On the last night I had teenagers upstairs. A little noisy at times so if you don't like it, get a room upstairs so there will be no one above you. There are two cpmplimentary newspapers in the lobby to choose from on the way to breakfast. There is fruit , pastries, cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage patiies, etc. You can either pay about $5 or get a room for a few dollars more with breakfast included.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

PF chang's is across the street in a strip mall, excellent food. Albertson's grocery in a short walk down the strreet. There is pizza, etc. within walking distance if you wish. Once you get in your car, there are many eating and shopping choices. On the next highway exit over (Exit 1) there is Valley River Center (Mall) that you will love.
