Convenient, cheap, and friendly service

Econolodge on 6th avenue, Eugene is well placed, close to laundromats, grocery stores and various restaurants. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms are well equipped with tv, fridge and microwaves, and the bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. For the rates they charge, this is pretty good value for money

decent stay

with all the options on this strip, it is nice to have an econo lodge. basically the rooms are nicely furnished and the desk staff is polite. but the housekeeping is a bit inconsistent. for example, we stayed two nights. first night, the bathroom had a little pink mold in the corners and it also didn't have a fan. the second room was much nicer and even came with a fridge and microwave! no mold and a fan. but then the bed was made poorly and the bottom sheet didn't cover the bed. though compared to the descriptions of the other places, i appreciated what we did get.

Very clean bathroom and nice breakfast

Eugene is a very small town and the inn is not exactly far from downtown. The bathroom is unexpectedly new and clean, which is very impressive at its price. They have fridge and microwave and a flatscreen.

Needs to be re-modeled

Room needed major overhaul. Could not lock deadbolt due to misalignment. Toilet flush handle cracked. Shower curtain had mold. Drains were sluggish. Paint peeling. Bathroom exhaust fan did not work.

Low price, low frills, but decent.

For the traveler looking for a bed to sleep in, and to not pay a premium, Econo Lodge was a good choice. The room was well maintained and clean. Refrigerator, TV, free wifi, hair dryer, Bed, the basics were covered. However, there was no coffee pot in the room, nor a microwave, so access to hot water for tea consisted of going to the loby. Their "free breakfast" was very minimal. Oatmeal packets, bagels, cream cheese, jam, packaged pastries, coffee, orange juice, and hot water. The free wifi was cumbersome to use. Multiple access points, however only one would actually have internet access, and it was russian roulette everyday to try to find the one that worked. Signing in every morning, or multiple times a day, as well as loosing connection, I found it frustrating.

Older motel, but clean and friendly

Small older hotel close to downtown. Was easy access to Eugene School of Glass where I was taking a weekend class. No restaurant really close, but wasn't hard to get to a number of good places to eat. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Will probably stay there again.

Unimpressed

This is our first time staying in an Econo Lodge and it will also be our last. First, the description of the room says its a "newer" room. Maybe they put a coat of paint in it but there was nothing "newer" about it. The phone didn't work, the sink was held up by PVC pipe and there were no batteries in the tv remote. The second room they moved us to was better then the first but still had the PVC pipe, 3 pillows that felt like pancakes and the security lock was broken off the door. The breakfast consisted of OJ, coffee, thin bagels and pre-packaged pasteries that tasted out of date.

Not so great.

We were in Eugene for business and chose this hotel because its rating was considerably higher than similarly priced hotels. While the room was clean and the front desk staff were friendly, there were some major negatives including: 1. The "hot" water was barely warm on the several times we showered. 2. The mattress was way too soft, causing back pain and certainly not suitable for any one with a back problem. 3. The "breakfast" was very poor, especially in a city that has many local bakeries and sources of good food. There was no real juice, just some kind or orange juice substitute and they offered pale, flat, pasty white bagels. I doubt that the staff or owners would eat this. 4. Not something easily remedied, but the walls were not well insulated so noise from neighboring rooms was quite loud and annoying.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The Market of Choice on Bradway, about 3 miles south of the motel, has a great produce section and salad bar.
