Good. Quite what I was expecting

I stayed for 1 week because of work. It's not fancy, but it's what I was expecting. Very clean. It does not have a gym or a restaurant, because is not their business strategy. One thing that could be implemented is having a small breakfast for the guests, at least offer some fruits, coffee and water.

Great location

Hotel was right off the main street located just a few blocks from everything and we opted for a 15 minute cab ride into downtown Portland instead of getting lost and paying for parking. The staff at the hotel were nice. Only problem was we were expected to wash our own dishes and there was no soap to wash anything with.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Parking downtown is alot cheaper than that in many other cities, so skip the cab and go on an adventure by driving downtown yourself. Parking is plentiful on the weekends and typically less than $10 for the afternoon/evening.

Misleading ??

I paid for a small "suite" with a queen-sized bed for me and my spouse. We chose ESA because they allow pets, and are comfortable. However, when we checked in, we learned the hotel was full for the night, so, while I had requested a smoking room which put us on the third floor, we changed our minds and wanted a first-floor room due to our dogs. But, since it was full, we took the reserved smoking room.Upon entering the room, it had a double-sized, or full, bed and not a queen-sized. But since the hotel was full, no point in trying to get another room. The tv in the room was at most a 19", which, from the distance of the bed, made it difficult to watch. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, just a vent (which I know is acceptable by OR law), but didn't work well; one shower and the whole suite was steamy. The kitchenette was nice, except the dishes didn't match and the silverware wasn't a full set for two people, let alone the fact that it didn't match. Fine, we dealt. [...] Yes, this was rated 2-stars, but I felt the room was not worth more than $55. Sorry, but won't be back.

Comfortable

It was clean and comfortable. I felt safe. It was convenient. My only complaint was that the hard surface floor was sticky--probably not well rinsed by the housekeeping staff.

ESA Portland - Beaverton

the hotel was clean and quiet which is important to me. The only complaint is the amount of time it took to check in.

Very low end, bare bones accommodations for business traveler on a budget.

When we arrived (at approx. 6 P.M.), our room had not been made up--towels on the floor, bed unmade, AC turned up so high the room was icy. According to the manager, the housekeeping staff had gone home. The room was large, but had only one chair. Since these are housekeeping units, the hotel has no ice machine. However, the ice trays in our room were empty, so the manager raided another room for ice. The bathroom was large, with both tub and shower and lots of counter space. Again, since it is designed for extended stay, no toiletries were provided except soap. The location was convenient to major arteries, plus shopping and restaurants. For the business person on a budget, it would be quite suitable--as long as one didn't expect more than the basic amenities. I believe that poor management is the major problem at this hotel. The personnel were friendly, but seemed sadly inept. I would not book there again.
