I stayed at the Super 8 Ashland for convenience and low price and that is what I got. All the basics were there, including a nice pool and a good breakfast. My tub did not drain the first night but it was taken care of promptly. Rooms are clean
and comfortable. I would stay there again.
This hotel was just nasty. We stayed in a room on the ground floor and it appeared to be sort of underground. The window looked out at the parking lot, but you could see the bottom of the cars and a cement wall, so there was not a lot of natural
light in the room. Also, the hallway and room felt moist and clammy, and smelled musty. I immediately thought back to my college days and was reminded of the smell of a college dorm (minus the beer). The weather in Ashland was lovely when we were there, but because of the moist, humid feel to the room we were forced to keep the air conditioning on whenever we were in the room (including all night long while we slept). The fridge never really got cold enough, there was not even a box of Kleenex or a pen in the room! There was shampoo but no conditioner and when I asked the desk attendant for conditioner, he told me they were "out" of it. Really? There was a stain on one of the chairs, but aside from that and the funky smell, the room *appeared* clean, although the smell and moistness left us a bit creeped out about the actual cleanliness of the place and we didn't even try out the swimming pool for fear of flesh-eating bacteria #ok, I'm kidding about flesh-eating bacteria, but we just didn't feel like the place was really clean#. I'd paid for the room in advance, otherwise we would have found another place to stay on the 2nd night.
The positives: the location was good, easy to find off the highway and we enjoyed a nice walk to the beautiful downtown area #it's about a 3 mile walk one way#. If you're looking for something very close to the theatres, you'll likely find this to be too far away.

Short walk from hotel
We found The Beanery on our walk to downtown and it was a sweet little café. Had delicious coffee and pastries, all homemade, as well as knowledgeable and very friendly staff.
We needed a last minute hotel, they had just what we were looking for. Cost on this site was $100, and I think it would have been $75 if we had purchased directly from the hotel (lesson learned there). Perfectly good quick and easy motel, I'd
certainly stay there again.
-Area felt safe
-Beds were clean and fairly comfortable (a little soft for my taste, but good enough)
-Shower was fine.
We didn't try the breakfast, but the diner across the street (Wild Goose) was very yummy.
The toilet ran some, but bathroom door closed solved that problem. In the morning I could hear people walking in the hall, but it was overall pretty quiet
The carpet and upholstery were stained, big stain on bedskirt, mildew under bathmat. Door did not lock properly and housekeeping left the door ajar so that our room was accessible to anyone who passed by. Front desk said maintenance request had
