The Manor Motel is a quaint 1940s style motel in a quiet garden setting. Originally the motel was a 1940s auto court with its own distinctive style. We are within a short walk to the Shakespeare Theaters restaurants and The Plaza in downtown Ashland. The Manor features 12 one and two bed units seven of which have fully equipped kitchens and five that are equipped with a mini fridge microwave and coffeemaker. We have shaded picnic areas with tables and chairs for your leisurely enjoyment. All rooms have direct dial telephones cable television and airconditioning. Helman Guest House and Studios consists of three units. The main house is a charming early 1900s two bedroom that can comfortably sleep up to five guests. It is only three short blocks from the Plaza restaurants and theaters. The two studio units located across a small courtyard from the house can each comfortably sleep up to three people. Sheets towels cookware and tableware are all provided at Helman House. All of our properties have access to free WiFi and are 100 percent smokefree. Front Desk Hours is 8 am to 10 pm.

Best location!

Hellman House Cottage was great! You are a mere two blocks from downtown. The room was nice, but we had so many spiders in the room...it was fine, other than that. The hosts were very helpful and gracious. Parking is very tight, so plan to leave your vehicle in one spot and walk. I will definitely stay at the Manor Motel or it's sister location of the Hellman House Cottage again.

40's motel in a convenient location

A little cramped, with an old 21" TV with poor reception. Parking cramped, too, but all in all, good value for the price. Quiet at night. Don't expect ANY amenities beyond soap and shampoo; there wasn't even a table to eat from. The bathroom looked original 1940s; hard to turn sink faucet handles; little room for toiletries, just a cramped toilet, a sink and a shower in a 5' x 5' space. No spare electrical outlets; overhead lights on bed hard to reach. If you're coming to Ashland for the plays, it's okay as an economical place to stay, but don't expect to spend much time in your room except to sleep.

Perfectly satisfactory, great price & location

This place is definitely "vintage," but quite satisfactory, and the price can't be beat. My husband and I were perfectly comfortable.

Near the heart of Ashland

With just a half-mile from the Manor to the fun of central Ashland, this is a really great location and you can easily walk (or drive) to the Shakespeare Festival and bars, etc. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. On the downside, their internet is *very* spotty and works hardly at all. Also, for what you pay, the room isn't exactly top value. But, for a single night to be just outside central Ashland, it's a good do-drop-in.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Standing Stone Brewery is a stone's throw (no pun intended) from the hotel. They make their own brews and offer very decent, organic pub grub.
