Disappointing
Room smelled of tobacco smoke, front desk just said "we're a non-smoking facility " . There were no other hotels available, so we had to endure it. Front desk person had a very nasty attitude.

Perfectly acceptable except for location
A clean and comfortable room, everything as it should be. My main disappointment was that it feels quite far from the downtown area. It's only 3.25 miles and 9 minutes from the Shakespeare Festival, but you have to cross over I-5, drive through construction, and end up in a nondescript cul de sac. Traffic noise from nearby I-5 woke me at 6 every morning. Breakfast buffet is the usual -- lots of choices, but all highly processed, unhealthy options.

A comfortable stay
We had a room adjacent to the elevator and never heard a whir, skreech, squeak or rumble! Not a peep. Comfy beds and love the pillow choices from firm to soft. We have recently stayed in a HIExpress in Solana Beach and had exactly the same breakfast, although Solana Beach had bananas. No fresh fruit in Ashland, and it was sorely missed.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Eat alongside the creek in town on the west side of the plaza. The clerk at the hotel recommended Greenleaf and it was wholesome and fresh food. Just what we needed after a long drive down from Seattle.

Now that was a friendly visit
Very friendly at desk and with service. Hotel is not really well sound conditioned so it was noisy. breakfast was better than expected, but, all the leaded coffee dispensers were empty (4) On checkout desk did not know we'd prepaid. I really want to emphasize the genuine intelligent and friendly desk and cleanup personnel. As we were leaving though one of the cleanup staff was holding the elevator door for an assoicate during the high customer use breakfast and checkout time between 8-9:30 AM. there were customers at every floor as we descended.
