Gorgeous Hotel
Beautiful hotel, probably the cleanest I've ever been in. Staff was super friendly. Loved learning about its history too - it was abandoned for 20 years before reopening in 2009!

Mayo needs improvement
I have stayed at the Mayo hotel several times because when I travel I like to try unique hotels if possible. For a supposed upscale hotel I was repeatedly disappointed by the following basics:1) The lobby is very nice and underutilized.2) The hotel restaurant is average at best with a limited menu and 3 star (at best) quality.3) Dark carpet in the elevators is a bad design choice because it always looks dirty.4) Service - especially the valet is seriously understaffed. The staff at the Best Western is probably more put together than at the Mayo. Last time I got my own car from the parking garage across the street because the valet was taking so long.5) In room amenities: no bottled water and no in-room movies - how hard is that to provide??For the money that I routinely spent the experience was average on a good day. Ill stay at the Doubletree when Im in Tulsa.

Nice stay.
Stayed at the Mayo while in town for a concert. Friendly service, great room, however, the bathroom could have been cleaner. Other than that, the stay was great.

Mayo Hotel Tulsa
The Mayo is nice, definitely the best Tulsa has to offer. It lacks a lot of amenities that nice hotels in larger cities offer and isn't comparable to a nice stay in Los Angeles, New York or Vegas but is the best option in the area. Pros: - Nice, clean building with extravagant entrance - Valet - Clean rooms, nice beds, tvs, showers, etc - Nice restaurant and rooftop club - Rooftop club/lounge - Friendly staff Cons: - No breakfast room service - Old windows allow gusts of cold wind in the rooms - No hotel store to purchase water, snacks and supplies - Valet can take 10 - 15 minutes to get your car

Bring bottled water and supplies to your room with you. There is nowhere to buy water, snacks, toothpaste, etc in the hotel. There isn't even an option to buy the items in the room.

Not As Wonderful As Expected
My husband and I stayed at the Mayo Hotel on Saturday, February 12. I purchased a gift certificate for my husband as part of his Christmas and we decided it was time for a night away from home, kids, animals, snow, etc. In addition to our one night's stay at the hotel, the package included free valet parking, a cheese plate and turn down service. The room was spacious and had many amenities including an in-room safe, coffee pot, refrigerator, ice maker, microwave, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, large flat screen TV, king size bed with luxurious linens, free WiFi, and an alarm clock with iPod docking station. We walked around the hotel and spent some time looking at all the pictures hanging in the museum which was quite interesting. We also went to the Penthouse Bar and had a glass of wine. The wine list was not huge, but there were enough choices that everyone should be able to find at least one that they will like. The bar area was a little crowded since there was a group of people sitting/standing around the bar, making it a little difficult to get up to the bar to place our order. The patio/terrace area was closed due to the weather; however, we will be going back to have a glass of wine on the terrace and enjoy the view. Some of the negatives included: A VERY firm mattress, if you like sleeping on a board you would like this bed Several soft, downy pillows but we prefer at least one firm pillow No premium movie channels or ability to rent movies Maid service did not turn off the alarm so we were awakened at 6:30 on Sunday morning by very annoying, LOUD beeping Towel rack in the bathroom is located right over the toilet – one washcloth met a watery death during our stay The closet is located on the opposite side of the bathroom requiring us to make several trips back and forth to our overnight bag Bartender went around and asked everyone in the bar if they had a lighter so he wouldn't have to go downstairs to get one to light the candles Had to call and ask for coffee – supply was not replenished before our arrival Coffee mugs had lint in them, making us wonder if they had actually been washed or just wiped out with a rag Glasses in the bathroom did not have the paper covers on them, again making us wonder about their cleanliness Cheese plate was delivered without a cover – so the cheese was dried out by the time we were ready to eat it Suggested Enhancements: A small gift shop would have been nice or at least a place we could have purchased post cards, forgotten toiletries, souvenir items such as wine glasses or Champagne flutes with The Mayo's logo, t-shirts, etc. A small bench near the sink would be a welcome addition and eliminate the need to schlep back and forth to the closet Instructions for use of the alarm clock and coffee maker An oversized soaking tub My husband and I just wanted a nice quiet place to relax, share a bottle of wine and rent a movie. While the hotel was relatively quiet and we did share a nice bottle of wine – we were disappointed that we were unable to rent a movie and were more than disappointed after being rudely awakened at 6:30 am!
