Best Budget Inn South

First room we were given was not cleaned, we were given a new room that was clean with a bigger bed. Pillows and sheets were soft, but, bed was extra firm. Was a good place to stay if you are going to Cedar Point and you just need a shower and a place to sleep. Exactly what i expected for the price.

Our room was acceptable for the price. Wallpaper was falling off and the carpets were less than desirable but the bathroom was clean. Beds and pillows were pretty comfortable too. The pool seemed chlorinated and skimmed even though they definitely didn't worry about the scum at the bottom. My friend who also had a room reserved had a much worse experience! After 3 separate attempts at getting her into an acceptable room, she gave up. One had a door that you could've blown open (even when locked), 2nd room was not cleaned (bed unmade, pop cans on the tables,etc) and 3rd room had no working lights! Also, even with a non-smoking room the hallways smelled like they had a midnight smoking contest, very gross! All in all, for the price, our room served its purpose, but we will not be returning on our next Cedar Point trip.

I read a handful of reviews, and they were all true. My first room had the mildew smell, and the sink was not in the bathroom, and there was something torn out of the room. The second one had not been cleaned, and the third the tub was dirty and the lights did not work. The carpet was terrible. I had to call the travel agent who then contacted the hotel so I could get my refund. Never again would I suggest that hotel to anyone, EVER. Especially not when you see the other nice hotels around the area.

This place was gross! First the hotel smelled of mold and something dead. My room had the worst towels I have ever felt. I had to dry off with a towel I had in my car. The fabric would have left scars if I could have brought myself to use them. There was 2 tv's, one working while the other just took up a lot of space. There was an old moldy subway sub on the window seal and an asprin on the floor. I will never stay there again!!! Bad Bad Bad!

I booked a room here based on how positive the online reviews were and the pictures online. Let me be the first to say looks can be extremely deceiving and if they had a review on how the rooms smelled I would have never booked my room. Yes, the entry way was appealing however I didn’t sleep in the entry way, I slept in musty nasty rooms. They apparently had a fire just a few weeks ago and the entire hotel smells like smoke. When we were checking in they said that they have already “gutted all of the rooms and renovated all of the rooms” boy that was a joke! If you even remotely have allergies don’t stay here! The rooms have a major mold issue and the burnt smell was terrible.

First we got lost for over an hour and I called twice for directions but the receptionist was not clear at all. I know my way around Sandusky and it should have not taken me 1 1/2 hours to get there from Cedar Point. The room was disgusting. It looked like dried up vomit on the carpet amd smelled so bad of cigarettes. The bathroom was gross. I do not recommend this hotel.

The only positive about this place is the location, not too far from Cedar Point. When we arrived, the police were arresting someone in the back of the parking lot. The room was filthy, particularly the carpet. As for vandalism: someone had written "BILLY" on a chair in the room, and carved something illegible on the phone. To top it off, the front desk gave the key to our room to someone else checking in at 2am... I awoke to pounding on the door and a confused guest who was wondering why we were in his room. I politely told them through the door (walls are very thin) that the room was taken and to check with the front desk. Overall, I guess you get what you pay for, but I expected a semi-clean room with a lock on the door... families beware.

Room was large, plenty of room for the kids to get around in. The room was clean, beds were comfortable. The hotel was in interesting part of town. A lot of shopping stores, eating places, etc..

It was AWFUL! The moment I opened the door was like walking into a wall with the smell of mold and mildew. It was really overpowering. There was a half drunken bottle of soda on one of the end tables and two ashtrays that were FULL. No remote for the TV and, this I really I don't get...NO ALARM CLOCK! Then to top it all off there were no towels to take a shower! The bed was far from comfortable as well. I only needed a place to sleep and shower for 2 nights and this place didn't even come close to fitting the bill.

The hotel was terrible. We almost checked out and paid for another place. It was dirty, the door was covered in profanity that they tried to sand off after asking if our children could read it. They no longer serve breakfast which was one of the reasons we booked. The have no internet access. The ice machine broke. There is no hair dryer in the room and one iron for the entire building. There were exposed electrical chords. And their signs were broken and unlight. It was a terrible experience and I will hesitate to book this way again.
