not a good deal

I was really upset at the fact that this is titled for the hotel and indoor waterpark. When we checked in they said it was for the hotel only. Very misleading. It cost me twice as much to include the water park. The clerk was rude and advised me that what was advertised was for a government priced room even after I showed her the confirmation email. She acted like it happens all the time and that I needed to ask you to correct the price. I felt like that is an issue with yours and their public relations. However, I paid it so that my boys would have fun on their spring vacation. The room was not clean, there was old pop cans under the furniture and the complimentary coffee was old and dusty. The coffee pot was dirty and dusty too. It felt like we stayed at walmart but paid nordstrom prices. Definitely would not even give them a 3 star rating, maybe a 2.

Maybe you'll be turned away and hung up on

I made a reservation for an elderly client of mine (93 years old) and even though the reservation was confirmed they had over booked. Never at any time did they notify anyone that the reservation was no longer available or would be honored. After finding out what happened I called the hotel and had the pleasure of speaking with the manager Mark. Who told me to call back later in the day to see what happened since he wasn't there to cancel the reservation. Seriously? Then I ask why the room would be available online and the front desk agent confirm if it was over sold? He stated. "I am not going to argue with you about this". I thanked him for spending the simple 5 mins on the line with me and then he hung up on me! I work with hotels nationwide and never had a "Manager" get annoyed with answering some simple questions. I cooled off and called back 15 minuets later. When I called back I found out that Mark is the "front desk manager" and there was a general manager there. Each time I was being transferred to the general manager somehow the call kept dropping all of a sudden.

The bed bugs DID bite!

Despite the beauty of the outdoor gardens and seemingly charming wooden interior, this hotel was wretched. To start off, the people at the front desk were rude and incompetent. When asked a question, they had little to no intelligence to give a proper answer. My family and I chose to suffer through that in hopes that the rooms would be nice and we could forget about the horrible service. When we arrived in our rooms, the beds, chairs and even carpet seemed damp. Even though the air conditioning was on high, everything felt humid, sticky, and smelled musty. The house cleaning did an awful job as there was old trash under our beds that had never been cleaned up. After spending a night there, my sisters and I woke up with bites on our bodies that were swollen and itchy; we accused them of having bed bugs! When we asked the front desk to please check our beds for the creepy crawlers, they sent us out of our rooms for a "proper search!" They said there was "no sign of bugs" which is quite false because we had bites on our midriffs and upper thighs that couldn't have gotten there from mosquitoes. After we complained multiple times, a house cleaning lady called my father a "miserable person!" That is completely inappropriate behavior from someone who should have been helping us! When we asked to speak with the general manager, they claimed he was in a meeting and would not be able to speak with us. We asked for the email of the general manager and the owner and they said they did not have any business cards with this information and also said they did not know who owned it! On top of the negative attitudes and potential bed bugs, this "resort" receives no cell phone service and the wifi did not work at all. The entire hotel was run down and in need of a serious cleaning. I felt disgusted after a night in the bed and the bathroom/shower was gross. When we checked out a day early and requested them to waive fees since we had a miserable time, they said they would not be able to do that. To add insult to injury, we were overcharged and when we disputed the charge, they argued with us and wouldn't take it off. They even attempted to charge us for the closed water park. They had no customer service skills at all and did not make us feel satisfied. We will never return to Cherry Valley Lodge and can hope you make a wise decision to steer clear of this place. Please read other reviews to fully understand the extent of what a miserable facility this is.

Great for the area

Cherry Valley is better than the average hotel found in this area of Ohio. Very comfortable beds, clean, large bathrooms.

The center of Granville (next town over), although small, is very charming, with good restaurants.

Fantastic for the Longaberger Craft Show

The complimentary breakfast could have been better. This was our second time visiting. We were a little disappointed. We were visiting for the craft show back in December 2010. Then we did the Longaberger tour at the Longaberger office. We also explored Dresden for more shopping.

business trip

Staff was pleasant through out visit. When booking my room I asked for a handicap accessible room. The room was on the far side of the hotel. The handicap parking was far from the doors as was my room that was at the end of a hall. The only part of my room that was handicap was the commode with rails. Was unable to use the shower as there was no place to sit. As in previous visits the room again smelled of smoke but was clean the furniture worn. During the tornado warning, we were taken to a lower level fortunately I was able to use crutches as it was not handicap accessible

Usually wonderful -- but not this time

Cherry Valley Lodge is usually wonderful - but not this time. Got there late at night after long drive and they didn't have type of room we had reserved (we reserved two queens; they only had king plus pull out couch). Then, room smelled musty, especially bathroom - shower curtan in particular smelled moldy. I'd still recommend it, but not as enthusiastically as in past.
