Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Toledo, OH

First off the staff was very nice and attentive, the first room was directly about the lobby and front doors to the hotel, you could hear the doors opening and feel the vibration, we asked for a new room, second room not much better - they gave us a "suite" but had a continually running fan -- loud enought to keep me awake most of the night - to shuttle air from the bedroom to the sitting area -- need to replace with a QUIETER fan, they do makes these!! Breakfast was ho-hum french toast - terrible but great coffee, nothing really exceptional about the hotel. Oh yes, forgot about the fitted sheets on the bed not fitting, ended up laying on a bare mattress -- eeew.

Lots of restaurants nearby. Easy access to freeway and turnpike. Good service and amenities. Great complimentary breakfast -- one of the best. Delightful fireplace with books to lend.

We loved our room(211). It was sort of hidden out of the main hall and very quiet.

It was just OK. The room smelling like smoke was a huge turnoff considering this is a non-smoking hotel. Do the cleaning staff not realize that someone has smoked in that room?

We needed a quiet place to sleep to break up a long road trip. Rooms were good size...especially liked the down pillows and duvet! Bathroom a nice size and beds were very comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good and a nice variety.

They allowed my to have early check in, even though they where busy the night before. The hallways were noisy with children, next to the pool which stayed open to 12:00 am

Friendly staff and accommodations were very good.

There was nothing phenominal or luxurious about the hotel. It had all we needed, though. The hotel was clean, the lobby and breakfast room was nicely decorated and cozy. There was nothing that made for an unpleasant experience. We were able o check in without any problems, quickly get into our room, and everything was clean, stocked and organized. When traveling with a 3-year-old and 11-month-old, having a incident-free experience can be enough. The continental breakfast was slightly better than most, having not only cereals and breads, but also waffles and eggs (pre-formed scrambled and hard-boiled).

I reserved a nonsmoking room and the first room I was assigned to smelled horrible. We didn't even put our bags down. We just walked right out. The hallway smelled badly as well. The second room they gave me didn't smell as bad. We then changed into our bathing suits and went to the pool. The swimming pool had a strange scum floating on the surface and hair and gross things floating in the water. The pump was obviously not functioning properly. I was pretty disgusted and my son was upset because I would not let him swim in it. We used the hot tub which seemed fine. Then we went back to our room. I went into the bathroom to get the shower started for my son and noticed a ton of little black hairs all over the tub, sink and on the bathmat and washcloth. Gross!! Then I pulled back the sheets to check them and noticed some on the sheets on one of the beds. The comforter had stains on it as well. We got our bags and left. I am still trying to get my money back since I prepaid for room room. This hotel was not what I was expecting. I will not be going to a Country Inn again.

Visited the zoo. Had a great night's sleep.
