Not terrible for the cost

The room was generally clean, although there were certain areas that you could tell hadn't been cleaned in a while. Pretty much what you get for the cost though.

expected typical poor Motel 6 room but it was better than average

I have generally had poor experiences with Motel 6 properties. They are often located in unsavory locations and they can be noisy and have distractions outside the hotel. The room I had in Ohio was better than average and had been updated as to flat screen tv and a king-size bed, and a floor that was not carpeted.

Everything we needed.

This hotel was perfect for what we needed, It was close to Ohio State for low cost. It was clean and quiet (even though it's right of of the interstate- good architect!) There was no fridge, microwave, toiletries etc. but for what we paid, I wouldn't expect them.

Great location & price

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Worthington Motel 6 for two nights in August 2013. The value was wonderful, and the location was great. We were attending a wedding downtown and the zoo the next day; while the motel was at least 20 min away from our events, the price differential between suburb and downtown Columbus more than made up for the extra driving. The village of Worthington is located just north of the Columbus city limits. The Saturday we were there we passed through the town square and saw the biggest farmer's market we'd ever seen! Plus there were a ton of awesome-looking shops and boutiques...sadly we didn't have the time to peruse the offerings but we're keeping it in mind for a subsequent trip. The staff was pleasant. There seemed to be a new guy behind the desk, as he had to be assisted when processing our check-in and payments. Housekeeping did a decent job, except for my big beef, which I'll get to in a second. The room was snazzy-looking, with the modern decor and furnishings. A flat screen TV was mounted on the wall. The overall room size was kind of small, but space was efficiently used. There was a small table and two chairs beneath the TV, and a couple of shelf thingies attached to the wall, one on either side of the bed and one near the sink. There was a wall mounted rod to hang clothes on, but nowhere really convenient to set your suitcase. I found the king-sized bed to be a bit uncomfortable the first night, but slept much better the second night. Of course I didn't have all the pillows I'm used to, so that probably made a difference. Also I did a lot of dancing (and drinking) at the wedding which probably helped me sleep sounder the second night lol My biggest complaint was that the floor was FILTHY. It was a laminate/linoleum/whatever floor that looked like wood, and while it didn't appear dirty, after walking barefooted for an hour the soles of my feet were black. I had brought a bottle of all-purpose cleaning spray and wiped down the entire floor (it was a small room so didn't take long). The towel was disgusting when I was done. A friend also checked in for one night. I was a little salty at first because his room was a lot bigger than ours, but the next day found out there was a cockroach and four spiders in the bathtub, so I guess we were better off!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Practically right out the driveway is a plaza with numerous restaurants: Chipotle, Wurst und Bier (German), Chutney (north and south Indian), a sushi place, a steak place, a Mexican place, a pub (these last two were along N High St before you turned into the drive leading to the motel).

No exactly thrilled

The girl at the desk when we checked in was extremely rude. Don't forget to bring your own toothpaste, shampoo, hair dryer and iron, these things are not provided. Room was okay but she blankets has burn marks in them in a non smoking room and the room had way too much spray in it to cover up smells. We weren't in the room too much except to sleep. Was really upset when I showed up and my reservation was for $113 and then they told me I owed $154 because tax wasn't added in. Wasn't expecting that and couldn't leave because the Arnold Classic was in town and most hotels (unless you wanted to pay over $200 a night) were booked. I will say it only took us 10 min to get to the convention center which was nice so the location was good. We will not stay there again.

all recorded

The room was clean, but the vent over the door was hanging lose. No amenties in the room though it was clean. The exterior landscaping needs updating and the clean-up was not well kept for late arrivals and the building flooring/brick/cement on the outside to access the rooms is dirty. Needs improvement.

OK for the money

Our "nonsmoking" room smelled like smoke and had cigarette burns in the bedspreads. But the sheets were clean and the mattresses were comfy. The bathroom floor had visible footprints (or pawprints?) from the previous occupants, but the tub and sink areas did look clean. As for amenities, we felt we had to conserve toilet paper because there was a near-empty roll on the holder when we arrived, and the "spare" was about a third of a roll. We were a little surprised to find no clock whatsoever. And of course no box of tissues (although there were two little soaps). The TV was quite large and looked new, but we can't vouch for it because we didn't watch it. There were ample pre-wrapped disposable cups, and 3 sets of towels in a room reserved for 4 people. An unusual thing about this room was the parquet floor--no carpet, or any upholstered furniture, for that matter. But at least it shows the management is concerned about preventing bedbugs. A plus was the thick walls--we didn't hear a thing from neighbors on either side, and could barely hear traffic noise. All in all, for a place to spend one night on the way to somewhere else, a decent deal for the money.
