Wyndham Cleveland at PlayhouseSquare - Terrible

Made reservations 4 months in advance using orbitz only to find out when I got there that there was only 1 room available and it was not the room I had reservered and paid for 4 months ago. Spoke to the hotel maanger and she said the only thing they could do was send me to another hotel becuase when they receive the request from Orbitz it does not let them know wha type of room it is. Which I found rediculous since it clearly states this infomation on the reservation.

the good, the bad and the ugly

the good was the hotel staff as well as our room aside from the stained carpet and soiled curtain shears other wise very comfortable. The bad was the 20 dollar plus tax parking fee. The down right ugly was constantly being approached by panhandlers right in front of the hotel, since this is a non smoking hotel there area for smokers was right out front where the panhandlers were

Better on paper than in person

We had booked three rooms. Two of the rooms were not in condition that would merit a stay. One had a broken toilet. The other wasn't cleaned.

Not bad for the money.

We stayed here for 4 days while my son was being treated at the Cleveland Clinic. The InterContinental hotels were way too expensive so the choices boiled down to the Wyndham vs. the Cleveland Clinic Guesthouse and since the CC Guesthouse got poor reviews I picked the Wyndham, it also turned out to be $40 a night cheaper than the Guest House when booked through the American Express travel agency located in the Cleveland Clinic. It's a decent hotel, friendly staff, big rooms ,expensive restaurant, great fitness room, pool. They have a shuttle that will take you to or from the CC anytime you want, plus it's downtown where there are many plays, shows, comedy clubs & restaurants within walking distance. However, if you have a kid (21 or younger), who's being treated at the Cleveland Clinic you should definitely stay at the Ronald McDonald House and save yourself a huge amount of money. There it's only $20 per night and they will also feed you for free. There the rooms have two double beds and a full bath. It's a nice place and really nice people who are also going through the same ordeal as you.

Try the Chinese Restaurant (China Sea) right down the street, it's excellent. Lots of theatres (plays and shows) nearby.

Fine, I guess...

Located near business, and in theater district. Quiet room, the AC/heating was not noisy. Cleanliness was an issue, esp. in the bathroom; room needed updating.

Had a Great time!

Great time! Walked to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Only took about 10 to 15 mins. Walked to the mall. Ok it was a small mall but a nice walk. Took the hotel shuttle to the Yankee game and walked back after the game. It was sooo close, who needed a shuttle? There are resturants to go to even late at night. The hotel bar had great happy hour prices. All in all at great vacation!
