Historic hotel combines old-world charm with modern-day amenities

This grand hotel in the heart of Cincinnati is on the National Register of Historic Places and provides guests with larger-than-average rooms and unique architectural touches, like a marble and walnut grand staircase in the lobby. Traditional afternoon tea is served daily, yet modern-age amenities, such as Wi-Fi in the lobby, ensure 21st century service.

  • National Register of Historic Places property

  • Free Wi-Fi
Rooms

The 146 guest rooms in this non-smoking downtown hotel reflect its rich heritage. Many have fireplaces, balconies, and European-style bathrooms and tubs. Rooms are larger than average, ranging from about 300 square-feet up to 1,300 square-feet for a suite.

Features

Guests at the Cincinnatian Hotel might feel more like they are in old-world Europe than in a Midwestern city. The lobby exudes classic grandeur with a marble and walnut grand staircase, but free Wi-Fi available in the lobby, guest rooms, and meeting spaces keeps guests connected.

A 1987 renovation polished up the Cincinnatian and created some extra large guest rooms, but the old-world charm is intact. Rooms range in size from about 300 square-feet to 1,300-square-foot suites. In-room amenities include European-style bathrooms with soaking tubs, and all rooms include DVD player. Guests can rent movies from the front desk.

Well-known Palace Restaurant on site serves a menu combining American, Asian, and European influences. The European experience is further enhanced with afternoon tea served daily.

Always a great stay

I have stayed at the Cincinnatian once a year for many years now. I am always impressed with their cleanliness, service and willingness to help with their clients needs. The cricket bar is a good hang as well. I will return again and again.

My favorite hotel in Cincinnati

This is the second time I've stayed at the Cincinnatian and the second time was even better than the first. The room was beautiful: modern, clean, luxurious. The price was right. The location: smack dab in the center or Cincinnati. The hotel is redolent with ghosts of past glamour. I parked on the street for $1. Everything was just perfect for a one-night, quiet getaway after a day of shopping. I hope to visit again soon.

Nordstrom Rack is my favorite store in Cincinnati. Quality merchandise at discount prices, located at the Smith Road exit off of Interstate 71.

Gracious hotel downtown Cincinnati

Attended the Reds/Yankees game only a short walk from the hotel. The room was quiet and nicely updated. Bedding was luxurious and bathroom well appointed. Towels were ample. Only minor issue was an older model TV, but it worked and that's not why we were there. Mini-bar in the room but we didn't open. The bar and restaurant were beautiful but we didn't check them out. Hotel staff extremely polite and professional. Funny circumstance at 7:20 am, the fire alarm went off and the hotel evacuated. It was a false alarm but the staff handled everything beautifully. Unifomed staff was at the bottom of each stairwell and a gentlemen in the kitchen handed us coffee as we walked through to get outside. The location was perfect and we would stay there again.

Very small room with a very BIG price

For $189 (plus an extra $28 to park), I expected a whole lot more. The room was very small and there was absolutely nothing special about it. I have stayed at Hampton Inns that are much nicer, and they give you a free breakfast! Nothing's free at The Cincinnatian! The location is also right across the street from a big bar called the Cadillac Ranch. Even though we were on the 7th floor, we could easily hear loud music through the walls until 2:00 AM. To add to my bad experience, the recipt that was slid under my door the morning of my departure showed a room rate that was $80 less than what I was charged. When I asked for an explanation (or maybe a slight discount) at the front desk, I was told that there was nothing that could be done. The lady told me that the lower rate was for a queen bed, whereas our room had a king bed. I looked on their website later and found out that I had been lied to. All told, my room, tax, and parking charges added up to almost $250, and I didn't even get a good night's sleep out of the deal. I won't be staying here again.
