difficulty negotiating

Not enough room to park while checking in. Parking garage had very sharp turns and also steep inclines which made it quite precarious to negotiate. Parking garage not accessible to hotel elevator. Had to walk up or down concrete, steep stairwell. Also had to carry luggage through the stairwell and into lobby before getting to elevator to get to the room. Upon arrival room A/C was set to 52 degrees. Could not adjust temperature. Had to turn off unit completely. Next day, concierge provided a space heater.Very apprehensive to use it while sleeping for fear of fire. Staff very attentive Julie was a gem. The person tending to the breakfast was also friendly and personable. Sorry, would not return.

A Stress-Free Alternative!

Why pay $300-500 a night in Manhattan just for "location" when you can have a large, fully-furnished one-bedroom apartment for a fraction of the cost - located just a five-minute walk and a comfortable 30-40-minute train ride to Grand Central Station. Fine restaurants nearby, hot breakfast in the hotel, ultra-clean rooms, cordial helpful staff, etc. etc. Eliminate the stress and expense: stay outside the city at this outstanding alternative!

Convenient and nice! Will stay again :)

Hotel and room is an ecclectic mix of retro and modern with an energizing atmoshpere in the lobby. Room was much nice than expected for the good price I got! Bed and pillows oh,so comfy! We probably would have been happy dining next door, but it was a pleasant walk to dozens of pubs, restaurants, and more! Short trip on foot to the Metro North station...then just a ride away from NYC (30 min. on express...45 or so on the non-express)

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Although several franchised restaurants were a short walk away, we walked a block or two more to find a local place. There were almost too many good ones to chose from! The hotel desk employee gave many recommendations, and we ate at a pub called...can't remember...something like Funky Fox or Faux Fox?? Great food and service, and after 9 on a Thursday they had a DJ. Busy place, but no wait for a table and plenty of ambiance.

Nice, but could be cleaner

The staff was friendly, and the rooms clean, but the common areas, like the exercise room, hallways, and elevators were not very clean. It took away from the hotel

Decent Hotel

I stayed for 2 nights at the hotel. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be common knowledge - but Residence Inns do not have any room service/food provisions. This was a colossal inconvenience, especially considering the fact that White Plains has very few restaurants beyond downtown WP. Also - no shuttle services and a very poor store. On the plus side, the rooms are large and spacious. Plenty of appliances (living up to its "home away from home" sentiment), but they were very poorly maintained. The hotel is pet-friendly, but I'm not sure that I would want that as a business traveler. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. Overall - if you're a business traveler, avoid this, even if you save a couple of bucks. If you're truly trying to get an apartment experience away from home, then and then only should you consider this.

Huge rooms - Reasonable price.

You probably know that the rooms are really suites with a spacious living room and a huge bedroom. Tiny kitchen in the corner. Very modern and well maintained. The lobby was purely functional but the staff was very friendly, so who cares! Skip the mediocre Chinese restaurant attached, because it's only a 3 block walk to the legendary Legal Seafood (from Boston) and several other decent restaurants. There's a sports bar/pub almost right across the street for a night cap. Better than I expected - I'd definitely stay here again.

Great Staff, Great Place

The hotel itself is well-kept and a desirable place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly. Only complaint is that the kitchen has half a stove. I would have preferred a slightly bigger counter to cook on. However, I don't see that being a problem for most people looking to stay there. I would highly recommend.

A few of the dining options on Yelp and other services were actually closed for renovations around the time I went. A lot of them were extremely busy. If you plan to eat out, make sure you get reservations early.
