Built in 1897, The Castle Hotel and Spa, sits majestically atop one of the highest points in Westchester County overlooking the Hudson River. A historic landmark, the Castle features vaulted, beamed ceilings, sculpted plasterwork, tapestries and crystal chandeliers. Its 31 accommodations include luxurious Guest Rooms, Suites with wood-burning fireplaces and lavish amenities including plush bathrobes, slippers, Goose down comforters and THANN Spa bath amenities. Our scenic grounds include one-mile walking trail, croquet, bocce courts, and a life sized chess set. Nestled away in a quiet corner, the dramatic outdoor Pool and Grotto Bar is a relaxing retreat for a delightful lunch and refreshing cocktail. One may also choose to unwind in the outdoor Jacuzzi, while enjoying soothing sounds of a charming waterfall. The state-of-the-art, 24-hour Health and Fitness Center offers strength training and cardiovascular equipment. Private or Group Yoga classes are available by appointment. The Castle s award winning restaurant, Equus, offers a unique and creative Auberge-style natural French cuisine based on locally sourced ingredients presented with innovative seasonal menus. Equus is comprised of three rooms, each with its own distinct decor and atmosphere - the Garden Room, offering breathtaking views of the Castle s plush gardens, the Oak Room, with its rich wood panel accoutrements, believed to have once been owned by Louis XIV and the Library with mahogany bookcases, dramatic paneled ceiling and wood-burning fireplace. Known throughout Asia as an oasis of peace and tranquility, THANN Sanctuary Spa, offers a wide variety of luxurious spa treatments based on THANN s art of natural therapy where all the senses are awakened by the unique holistic spa concept and ambience. The 8,700 square foot spa features whirlpools, steam rooms for men and women, seven treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge and a VIP treatment Suite. Member of SLH

Great romantic weekend getaway

This hotel is a small castle tucked away in a forest on top of a hill in Tarrytown. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, without having to spend too much time driving. The suite was very spacious and had a view of the river and Manhattan skyline in the distance. Food was great at the restaurant, and breakfast there is a must. Not sure what other food options are available as we only stayed over 1 night. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Great biking path/running path along Route 9, a short drive away. Can bike all the way up to Canada on that route.

Castle on the Hudson

It was a very nice room and the restaurant had a spectacular view of the Hudson. However, they couldn't find my reservation and it took nearly a half hour for them to work something out. [...]They did give us a credit for breakfast at the restaurant. One other thing: the air conditioning/heating system was erratic and noisy.
