Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel

Great hospitality. Very short walk to the civic center where I was attending a concert.

Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Food was excellent. Definitely worth a stay. Staff was courteous and attentive. Stay was the nicest I've stayed in a while.

The Poughkeepsie Grand lived up to my expectations. The parking situation could be explained better with some signs. The only other complaint is the general area around the hotel is a little sketchy. The staff advised my against walking to a nearby restaurant at night. I did appreciate the honesty however. The food at the bar was good.

Usually stay away from hotels without "brand" name. Took this one for convenience to location where I did business. Surprised to find a nicely appointed hotel with relatively newly renovated accommodation and friendly, helpful staff, free wireless in room, free use of business center, free full breakfast and free drink at the nice bar. Onluy drawback is that neighborhood is sketchy at night, and I was advised and did stay in the hotel.

booked a Hotel room with a king size bed, but ended up being given one with two full size beds, not what i asked for, then the next morning at 9:45am we had housekeeping continually knocking on the door even after we told them what time we would be out

the air conditioner was not working when I arrived, but they were able to repair it a few hours later. The next day the toilet overflowed (with no provocation) and before the maintance worker arrived, the water had flowed out of the bathroom, across the rug, under the door into the hall, and then stopped flowing and appeared to be working normally by the time he appeared. He said the room upstairs or next door might have blocked the pipe and made mine back up. He dry vacuumed, but I wondered whether they actually cleaned the rug and hallway, or even mopped the bathroom floor. The room had plenty of space to set my suitcase--more than most rooms do, but overall the place seemed dark and nothing "grand." The neighborhood was devoid of restaurants and seemed a place you didn't want to go after dark. I got pizza one night, subway sandwich another night. I asked about a bus to the Roosevelt library in Hyde Park and no one seemed to know about one. I called a bus company and figured out how to get there, only to find out after the fact that there is a free bus operated by the national park service from the Poughkeepsie train station but no one had mentioned it. There is also a free shuttle from the hotel to the train station, but that took quite a bit of effort to find out, also. They just didn't seem knowledgeable or eager to help.

Good experience.. Great value... room clean and fairly up to date.. excellent breakfast. staff was outstanding.. Will use when we return to area in the future

Great! Wonderful value and nicely located to my activities. Breakfast- Great Value and good food! Very generous servings. I would stay there again and the staff was superior especially the young man that served our breakfast.
