Just an hour from beautiful Lake Placid and only 10 miles from the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains, the La Quinta Inn & Suites Plattsburgh is the place to stay in upstate New York. Located two miles west of downtown in the heart of Plattsburgh's shopping district, you are only a block sprawling Champlain Centre. Great restaurants are all around including Butcher Block across the street and Anthony's, a block away. From here, visit such attractions as Wilder Farm Museum and Kent-Delord House Museum. Step back in time at Ausable Chasm, where 400 years ago, Samuel De Champlain first explored the valley bearing his name. We are only minutes from Plattsburgh State University and Clinton Community College. When you are finished exploring, come on back to the La Quinta Inn & Suites Plattsburgh. We have a lovely indoor "Greenhouse Style" swimming pool and relaxing whirlpool. All rooms have free high-speed Internet access, pillow-top mattresses, a 25-inch TV, granite vanity, full lenght mirror, carefully selected art, and many additional amenities. Begin your day with a delicious Free Bright Side BreakfastTM in the lobby over a USA Today newspaper. There is a guest laundry facility onsite, available fax/copy services at the front desk, and express checkout. We are one mile from CVPH Medical Center, and it is only a short drive to such businesses as Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals, Bombardier, and Georgia Pacific. Bus parking available (easy access to I-87).

In town to visit a hospitalized relative.

Good value for the money, but nothing great. Polite staff, clean, quiet (my room was in the back as far as you can get from Rte. 3. Convenient to the Pyramid Mall such as it is, and the CVPH hospital. A couple of decent restaurants (Butcher Block and Anthony 's) within walking distance.

Weekend stop

The hotel/room was OK. The pool area and the internet connection were fine. Unfortunately , we paid a premium price because of the time of year (foliage change). What sticks in my mind though was the chaos at the breakfast bar on that Sunday morning. Wow! Not enough seating, bad counter layout, sour milk. The attendant was mobbed everytime she came out with food. Can't blame the people for trying to get something extra for the price they paid but it just felt like Black Friday in there.

Someone messed up!

We requested a non-smoking room on orbitz, but they tried to give us a smoking room, saying that they didn't recieve that info from orbitz. When we told them we needed a non-smoking room b/c of asthma concerns, they gave us a room with one bed, king size, for four people. Won't use orbitz again, nor will we stay here again.

Last Minute Need - Pleasant Accommodations

My family needed a hotel in Plattsburgh so that we could attend a funeral. The suite we received was very pleasant - albeit small for being a suite. The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean, and even though you could smell residual smoke on the first floor, it was not evident on the fourth. The pool hours were great....but the pool needed to be warmer. The continental breakfast was small and typical but it was free....so no complaints. All of the staff that we exchanged with were very accommodating and affiable. Overall, I was pleased and would return if we needed to be in that area again.

Visit to see our daughter in Plattsburgh

The LaQuinta was as expected except there were many guests with dogs staying at this location and this was totally unexpected. Fortunately, we only heard a dog bark on one occasion during our stay, but wonder about this policy, which was never mentioned to us in advance. We will probably not stay at this location again based on this experience.

Good Place

A group of hotels right off the I87 Northway at Plattsburgh and most are the same value for money. Have stayed at La Quinta before and found a good night's sleep in a clean comfortable room close to where we wanted to be. The swimming pool is small, but adequate; the fitness center is two pieces of apparatus in a room. Breakfast was a mosh pit as people pushed their way to the free stuff..waffles at your own risk. All-in-all good value.

homecoming weekend for state college

Stayed here for 2 nights for the SUNY Plattsburgh "Homecoming Weekend" and I must say, even though they were quite crowded and busy, this hotel was a great pick. The room was clean, the bed comfy. When I first got to my room the tv wasn't working, I called the front desk and by the time I got back to my room later that night it was working perfectly. Any time I approached any staff person there they could not have been friendlier or more attentive. The hotel is pretty much conveniently located to anything in town. I never made it to the breakfast buffet (too crowded), so I can't speak to that.

Accommodating staff

Had to change rooms, when I arrived. I had an interview that lasted past my check out time. My room was changed, because I wanted a smoking room. This was done immediately and with out question. I called after my interview. (couldn't have a cellphone in a prison setting) I was not charged for an extra day's stay and the desk clerk was very understanding and said, "Take your time back and don't worry about the late check out". Except for two "water bugs" I noticed. I had a great stay.
