Even though this hotel offered lots of amenities, it is only useful to me for its' location- courtesy of NYSDOC. There is remodeling being done- and looks to be very nice when complete. However, considering the local area, which has nothing to offer, the price for this hotel is unreasonable. It was only thru Obitz that I received a fair price without having to drive over 45 minutes away.

Great view
The hotel is right on the St. Lawrence River, with a great view. Rooms are clean and up to date, staff is helpful and courteous. The only draw back was breakfast was described in the booking as a hot buffet, it's really just a updated contiental and not very good. Eggs were rubbery, you take the french toast, unwrapp them and pop them in the toaster, and the hash browns were way over done. Go to Phillips Diner in Ogdensburg for Breakfast, but enjoy your room.

An easy stay before the border
The Stone Fence was nice and clean. It was the perfect place to sleep before crossing the border into Canada the next day.

Was a bit of a let down...
Good staff and good brec. brunch. The room was dated and worn out compared to the rest of the resort. Maybe that is why they allowed the pets, it wouldn't matter if the animal wrecked the place. I was glad I didn't wear my glasses in the shower because it made the mold look better than it apparently was. We had next door smokers ( they were in non smoking room as we were) out on the balcony til late into the evening. These people also left their dog unattended in the room, which allowed us to enjoy 6 hours of non stop barking. If that wasn't enough the evening was topped off with kids running the hall from 12:45 am until 1:30 when I had enough and called the desk. They took care of it in short order. Most of the problem we had was inconsiderate people not the hotel. We would stay there again.

Nice Bang for Your Buck
My family and I were staying here to join my extended family during a fishing trip. The feel of the motel reminded me somewhat of a skiing lodge. We stayed in one of the "townhouses" further down the hill. The resort is located right on the St. Lawrence Sea Way. Which gives you a good view of Canada across the river. The room looked impressive at first with it's finished tongue in groove wood, vaulted ceiling, ceramic tile and nicely carpeted floors. After looking closely, the room actually had some errors in construction and the pine walls in the bathroom had dust in the crevices between the boards. I could also spot some cob webs on the high ceiling. There was also a stand up shower only and the room itself was not very toddler friendly. The price of the hotel was not that bad if compared to the competition in the area. It also included a continental breakfast. Waffles, bagels, french toast, sausages, eggs, home-fries, assortment of cereals, juices, milk, yogurts, packaged mixed fruit, and of coarse coffee. The motel also facilitated an outdoor tennis court, indoor game room that included ping pong table, pool table, fuse-ball table, etc. I would most likely stay there again if I were visiting that area. The price was right and staff were very friendly.

If you like to fish, it's about 15 minutes from Black Lake, NY. There is also nearby access to the St. Lawrence.

Not worth it!!!!!!!!!!
We were visiting SUNY Potsdam for Sat. I stayed in Toronto for $129 and had a first class experience. We stayed in building 500. The carpet was run down. The hall walls needed paint and were dirty. The room smelled, was run down, and both the sheets and pillows were worn out but clean. For $60.00 I would have felt ok. for $130 I felt used. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Nice but weird place
The physical place is lovely and the staff were very nice. We had a good breakfast, as advertised, and the price could not be beat. However, the sign out front says "Family Restaurant" and one assumes more than the breakfast setup is available. The nearby town has only bars, with some pub-like food attached to it, but it appears that alcohol consumption is a primary occupation of the townsfolk. Given the state of the local economy, from all appearances, this makes more sense than it might seem.

The Gran-View, to the west of the hotel, was a lovely place, although it too is a bar with some food attached.

Nice location on the river
They placed me in some "townhouse" building, where my room was extremely small and very noisy from the heating system. However after it was practically impossible to sleep there, they moved me in the middle of the night into the main building, where the room was much nicer, with a balcony, view and so on. The breakfast was very good, and the breakfast area also was very nicely located so you could have a view of St-Lawrence River. The internet was free. I'm not sure that the name "resort" matches what the motel offers, but maybe in the Summer there are more options.
