Fine visit
We found the Howard Johnsons hotel certainly adequate, comfortable enough and clean. It was not a luxury hotel by any means, but it did the trick and was a good value. Nice that it was pet friendly!! And the location so near the Falls allowed us to go for a morning run with an amazing view! We would consider using HJ's again.

Hotel was easy to find. Parking lot was completely empty when I went to check-in. Front desk person didn't even look up/notice when i came in. I tried to switch from 2 double beds to king size, exept that there would have been an upgrade fee. Let me just say that i've been to much busier hotels that were much more desperate to give upgrades or to be accomodating. The room was okay, clean enough, enough clean towels, but the view consisted of a parking lot. Usually, i don't care about the views, but this definitely made me feel put out. I left at 4am in the morning to drive my friend to the airport. There were maybe six more cars in the parking lot, clearly not at capacity. I did not make the 20 mile return trip from the airport for the complimentary breakfast, as it wouldn't have been worth it.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
For collectors of Starbucks mugs, the Starbucks on the American side by the Seneca casino only has the collectible city mugs from the spring until September. This was a great disappointment for my boo, as he had to settle for the last "niagara falls" plastic tumbler. If you are going to stay on the American side of the falls bring your passport so you can go to the side of the falls that has it together, in terms of attractions and starbucks mugs. We made the mistake of not bringing our passports.

Its just a 'good' hotel.
The staff was friendly. However we had some issues. Had booked a couple of rooms with a king bed and a room with 2 bed. But we ended up getting just one king bed and a 2 bed rooms. We did not get one of the king beds. When asked, they informed us that the booking came through Orbitz and only one king bed was requested and they did not have additional room with a king size bed and hence provided us with a room with a queen size bed. This caused a little hardship since there was a child (less than 2 years) and it was a queen size bed. Another issue was the size of the berakfast room. It was very small and the cpeople had to literallyu wait in queue to get breakfast.

Needs major updating
I had always stayed at the casino, but they were sold out.I guess I'm spoiled, because this place was very disappointing. No fan in the tiny bathroom.Shower went every direction. When I went to close the curtains,I thoughttheywere going to fall of the rod(very old) . The breakfast room was so small I had to take my coffee and danish back to the room.I thought there would be a view of the falls, none. Just a street and park across from it.
