Dirty place
MMs Dec 1, 2009
Nothing was working there. The Air Conditioner was too noisy, the bathtub was dirty and completely clogged and the TV remote ... control was not working. The room was so dirty that we could not walk wearing socks on the carpet. There were all kind of debris and nasty things under the bed; I think it was never cleaned. The worst experience ever.

The hotel was located on 7th Avenue...in the heart of NY...so that was good...the Macy's Parade came down this street...that was good.

We took the shuttle from the airport. I would not do that again. You spend a lot of time waiting to be picked up and then a lot of time dropping off other people. Same thing with going from hotel to airport. We were picked up 4 hours before our plane left. I would rather spend that time in NYC.

The good, the bad and the cold reality
Shelley Nov 30, 2009
This was a horrible experience. I had to be put into another hotel room because the 1st room was cold. The second room was ... also cold. The 2nd room had a stove in the room...I wanted heat...NOT A STOVE. I will never stay at the Wellington again. The only good thing about the hotel is the 7th Avenue location and that's it...I went to New York for the Macy's Parade. That was exciting, but staying at the Wellington was awful!!!

"Great location,great service"
Lois Traveler Nov 29, 2009
The Wellington was a great location with a subway entrance on the West 55th Street side of the hotel. The rooms were small ... and the woodwork wasn't in good shape but it was fairly clean. It would have been great to have a king size bed and a refrigerator for the same price. There is a Starbucks and a Dehli across the. street, which was very handy. The Wellington is four blocks from Central Park and close to shopping on 5th Avenue and also close to the David Letterman Show. If you like Jazz try The 55 Bar in the West Village at 55 Christopher St., it was a fun way to spend the night. Stop in at the Financier Patisserie in the Financial District on Pearl Street for great coffee and amazing cakes and confections. Our trip to New York City was amazing and staying at the Wellington helped make it great.

FANTASTIC LOCATION
Lola from Sweden Nov 26, 2009
Fantastic location only few mins from Times Square and also Central Park. Noisy plumbing noises at night every 30 mins pipes ... shake rattle and we are woken up in room on floor 16, then we are moved to floor 27 and its absolutely a different world, rooms are lovely and no noise either, very clean hotel, friendly staff. Excellent hotel location, value for money, bearing in mind not in room much, would definately go again, and recommend to others to do the same

The hotel was great, particularly location and comfort. My only complaint is that the water temperature in the shower kept ... changing, unexpectantly. Also, I was not given a receipt....and, in spite of accepting the paperwork as a not for profit organization, the bill included taxes. BUT...excellent hotel, I would stay again and highly recommed it. Also great location for the subway, shopping and MOMA.

Miguel Nov 23, 2009
Great location!!! Good value for money. A bit old fashioned/dated decoration. It was clean and the check in/check out process ... was fast. Nice personnel at the front desk, very poor service in the bell/information area. If you want to enjoy the best location in NY and use the hotel basically for sleeping, this is the place. Not gorgeous, still offering acceptable level for the price paid.

Street noise is the problem
RichardK Nov 18, 2009
The price was right and the location is in the heart of midtown. The bedroom and bathroom were small but clean and ... functional. However we were on the third floor facing the street and the noise was tremendous--loud traffic noise all night followed by the booms and bangs of heavy construction starting at 6AM.

Hair revival is a real treat! I saw the original and don't remember having as much fun (tho I WAS 22 back then and trying to be cool and calm about everything). Actually, many musicals and plays to see and half-price tix are the best for a family. But often tickets are still at the box-office an hr or so before curtain; you're just taking a chance of course.
