Excellent location, great price considering the cost of other hotels in the immediate area. Short walk to Rockerfeller Plaza, ... Radio City, Central Park, Times Square. Super friendly and helpful staff. Room was small/cozy but better than expected. Only complaint is that the room was too warm for us and we couldn't seem to control it w/o opening a window. Good location but not for nights sleep

Ms. Dec 29, 2009

It is fine if you are tolerant of Old and European style, no frills and noise. People slam the hotel room doors at all ... hours. All of the water pipes are so loud specifically the sink, toilet and showers. There is no soundproofing and therefore sounds like a curse ship horn when someone starts the shower. The room radiator makes it own interesting set of sound effects. It is kind of scary for teens that are used to modern hotel rooms. There was one small door lock. On the plus side they upgraded the room type after asking to a king bed for no additional charge per night. Would have liked a coffee maker in the room.

Not bad for the value

Student on a serious travel budget Dec 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Once I got over the fact that the cleaning lady was watching tv with her feet up in my room upon checking in, and the sheets ... hadn't been changed, the hotel wasn't that bad. This is a 3 star hotel, so it shouldn't be held to the standards of higher ranked ones, and it wouldn't be able to. The hotel is pretty old, and the rooms are small. They could also stand to shampoo the carpet. However, for the deals that you may be able to get [...]you can't beat the location. It's very convenient to many major touristy locations, and there are about three subway stops within very close walking distance making it very accessible.Bottom line, if you're on a budget and not looking for The Ritz...this isn't a bad option.

Great Location for the Price!

NYC Dec 15, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I live on the UES, but I stayed at the hotel because the heat in my apartment wasn't working. The hotel is great for the ... price because of the proximity to Times Square, Central Park, and 5th/Madison Avenue. However, I didn't appreciate being told that my room was still not ready after 3pm. The lady at the front desk finally gave me the key and said to check to see if the room was ready. She wasn't sure if the room was ready. Don't they communicate with the housekeeping staff?

I've stayed here before & had better rooms - we had an unusually noisy room. The location for us is ideal and the lobby is ... pretty & it's so convenient. But the noise made it hard for me to sleep which is unusual for me. The heater shrieked and roared a lot during the night; it clattered a lot going on & off & we needed it on a bit because it was cold; the room was OK but not as big as other rooms we've had there; we were right by the elevators which were very noisy & one was out of commission so they were slow. The bathroom was claustrophobically small. We would not avoid Wellington in future[...]

Stay away from anything that looks too touristy in the area. Many of the bigger "nicer" looking places had meals between $18-25. Chose to stay in the Wellington Hotel on my trip to NY because of it's great location and have to say I think the choice was ... excellent. The Hotel is such close proximity to Times Sq, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave, Broadway and the subway is literally on your doorstep. The hotel room we stayed in was the basic double and yes it was small however it was very clean & Noise free. We took the shuttle from the airport. I would not do that again. You spend a lot of time waiting to be picked up and then a lot of time dropping off other people. Same thing with going from hotel to airport. We were picked up 4 hours before our plane left. I would rather spend that time in NYC.

Dining tip, Short Walk

Breakfast (and even light meals) in "Le Pain Quotidien" on 7th Ave. and 58th Street. For lunch or dinner "Puttanesca" 9th Ave. and 56th Street. Both excellent places.

Entertainment tip, Short Walk

Go hang around the TKTS booth. Lots of opportunities to buy FABULOUS seats to a show.

Dining tip, In Hotel

The coffee shop has great food at a good price, served quick. You have to work to get staff to attend to water refills, etc.

Entertainment tip, Short Walk

Hair revival is a real treat! I saw the original and don't remember having as much fun (tho I WAS 22 back then and trying to be cool and calm about everything). Actually, many musicals and plays to see and half-price tix are the best for a family. But often tickets are still at the box-office an hr or so before curtain; you're just taking a chance of course.

Dining tip, Short Walk

The Stage Door Deli and many other restaurants are closeby as are the stores, museums, etc. It's a great location for everything!

Sorry, we cannot perform that search at this time. Either the pick-up or drop-off location needs to be an airport.
