Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Great Value for Location

The location is what brought us to this hotel. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. The rooms are very small but when you're in NYC you shouldn't be spending time in your room anyway. The walk to Times Square was about 10 mins. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few blocks. You can get to Anything in minutes. The staff was great! The bellman was a former Survivor contestant. Overall a great experience for what we needed it for.

Wonderful stay

The staff was very friendly! We were upgraded to a suite n our room was ready way before 3 pm. The hotel is perfectly situated between Times Square and Central Park. The only downside was the morning construction noises

Great stay in NYC

We had a Deluxe Double - 2 double beds with a balcony to see the city below from the 23rd floor. I did not expect to have a living room, little kitchen and separate bed room and 2 full bathrooms. The inside of the suite was great. It was a little pricy but we had several reductions which brought the price down. The location was great next to several metro stops within 2-3 blocks. The Breakfast was delicious and included in the room price. The staffs were very pleasant, polite and arranging.

Old, Cramped, & Old

The best feature of this hotel was location. It was close to everything we needed: Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, and important subway lines. The staff was extremely accommodating; they even went inside for more umbrellas for us. Aside from those positive factors, it was an outdated place. Older carpet and cramped hallways greeted us immediately as we entered out room. The bathroom was not completely clean when we arrived, and I'm pretty sure one day we had a set of stained towels. The shower was also tiny. The heat and pressure was sufficient, but the non-hotel shower curtain, shower-head leak, and slow-drain made for a semi-McGuyver obstacle course of calf-height water and mis-sprayed water. If you are not very particular about this sort of thing and you value location above all else, The Wellington Hotel is PERFECT!

better than expected!!!

For our first time in NYC.. we didn't know what to expect. The location was amazing, down the street from everything there is to see!! Times square, right there. Central park.. right there. Rockefeller & Carnegie hall.. down the street. It was nice all around. The room was warm, and inviting. The bathroom was super tiny, but it's all you really need. All around, i would definitely go back and book this hotel again when in NYC.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Do one of the bus tours your first day.. so the following days you can go back and do the things that interest you most, more in depth. It will also help understand the geography if it all there. Enjoy!

Quick Overnight Trip

My friend and I went to stay overnight for a comedy benefit being held right around the corner from the Wellington. The location could not have been better-- sooooo close to Times Square, right in the heart of the Theater District. The room and hotel left a lot to be desired, though. The bathroom was small and inconveniently laid out. The shower was difficult to use and randomly scalded us. The A/C didn't work and the room was extremely warm. The window opened a little, but not enough to combat the stuffiness. Ice was located on the ground floor, and you could ring someone to bring it up for you, but there were no vending machines with water or anything on the floors. The Wellington does have a nice diner/breakfast/dinner place on the ground floor that was expensive, but very good. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly. At the end of the day, the price was good for the excellent location, but I think I would consider looking at other hotels in the area if we go to the same benefit next year.

First trip to New York with forest friend

The best thing about this hotel is its location only. The room was extremely small, not much walking space, and non of the pictures on their website shows the actually room condition. Towels was not washed/sanitised properly, how do I know that? 1: you will still see blood and other dark stain on the towels 2: newly changed towels has hair from the previous user (not my hair colour for sure) 3: you can't smell any chlorine that you normally smell from a hotel towel (not sure if this is a good or bad sign) You will find layers of dust around the washroom sink (rear or near the pipe). Room wireless access is pretty expensive (it is complementary if you book on their website) and no complementary internet at the lobby either.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

New York has amazing museums and other attraction places. Most of them have admission fees. Get a New York Pass, New York City Pass or Explorer Pass could save you a lot of money (must plan your trip and schedule in advance). Get a 3 - day metro pass or 7-day metro pass (depends on your trip length) for unlimited subway and bus access.
