A Home Away from Home
This is our fourth time to stay at the Wellington. That says a great deal about how comfortable and at home we feel there, especially because of the staff, who are so friendly as to seem like family -- and they did the first time there as well as the fourth. The location of the hotel is wonderful. It is close to many restaurants in every price range imaginable. It is within walking distance of the theater district and shopping. There is a subway station practically in the lobby. And don't pass up The Park Cafe!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Carve: Wonderful pizza; great, friendly staff at 47th Street and 8th Avenue. You can get a HUGE slice of pizza and a drink for under $10. When you finish eating, walk up a block and visit Scent-a-late, a great litle shop with unique merchandise. It is on 48th Street just a few doors west of 8th Avenue.

Visiting family
Only one elevator was working. Getting down from the 10th floor was inconvenient and time consuming to say the least. Also, ice was not available on our floor! Other then these two things our experience was good.

Carnegie Hall
This is a great location across the street from carnegie hall. The rooms and hotel are in need of an update as items are very worn and out of date. The room was clean but not great.

Rate average but overall was above.
Hotel location very desirable with respect to theater district. For the price I thought it was a great deal. Would stay there again. The transportation package offered was very expensive. I went to AirLink which was $30 per person for van. Your offered price was $100 per person. That being said very happy with the whole package. To get a room that we had in the location offered (Wellington) was a super deal.

Bed linen NOT washed!
I stayed in the Wellington hotel with my friend last August and it was a fantastic stay. Great room, I could not fault anything. I then returned for a one night stay on the 23rd May 2012. It was like I was in a different hotel. I paid 127 euro for one night for a room that had no air con, instead I was greeted by air blowing out under the "big gap" underneath my bedroom door. I then opened the door to find a big machine like a large hoover that took up most of the floor space in the room blowing out air. I then unplugged it. I thought first it must be a store room. I then went into the bathroom and the tap in the bath was continually dripping. As it was late, and had travelled a long way, I just wanted to go to bed. I then pulled back the bed clothes and found creases all over the pillows and the bed sheets not even dressed. again covered in creases and did not smell like they were washed. To top it off, I found a hair in the bed sheets which clearly indicated the bed sheets had not been changed. I decided to call reception and asked if they could confirm that the bed linen had been changed. I got an aggressive response from a guy telling me to call in the morning and check with house keeping!! I was so annoyed and tired, I had to strip the bed and use my clothes as well as the towels (which may I add were actually washed) as bed clothes. It seems this hotel has a small number of good rooms and the remainder are disgraceful. After my first stay, I had recommended this hotel to so many of my friends. After my second stay I will be spreading the word to stay clear for the price that the hotel is charging to stay there.

Wellington experience
It is good hotel location wise. But should not expect amenities.. hotel is costly, compared to price you may not get internet connection. You need to pay extra for internet connection. Poor ventilated hotel. But it has spacious bed room.

Planning to Go Back
This was the first time I was visiting NYC and staying at a hotel rather than a friend's place. I was concerned about what I would get for the price I paid but I was not disappointed. The hotel is on the older side but definitely has a raw NYC feel to it that makes it work. The staff is extremely kind and helpful and the room was great-spacious and clean. The location couldn't get any better. I went with my sister and we've decided to make an annual trip of it and stay at Wellington every time!!

The rooms are not separately controlled with the heat/air conditioner. Our room was unbearably hot. We almost had to sleep with the door open to the hall.

An excellent choice
I had an emergency trip to NewYork city and I got this hotel 3 hrs before I arrived. The reception was excellent, I got an upgrade in the room I asked for and a complimentary Internet access without asking for it. The location is much more than I could hope for. I had an excellent time.
