Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Perfect NYC Family Hotel

This hotel is perfect. We were told we received a renovated room. It was supposed to have one king bed and one sofa bed but ended up having one king bed and one queen bed which worked out great. The living room was very large with a comfy sofa and had a small kitchen table with 3 chairs and small kitchenette. I cannot tell you how spacious the rooms were...not spacious by NY standards but it was like a large apartment. It was also very clean and had 2 desks and chairs. I will never stay anwhere else in NYC. We were a few blocks from Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. We walked everwhere and only needed to ride the subway to Battery Park. Don't book anywhere else, the Wellington is perfect. the only thing you should know is that the kitchen is not stocked with plates or utensils and does not have a coffee maker. But they have great room service and starbucks is across the street.

good choice

I had tix for the Letterman Show and this place is right around the corner, not to mention within walking distance of even the far reaches of the Broadway theaters. MoMA and Radio City MH also very close by, as is Carnegie Hall. The location and price for what you get is about the best I've had in NYC. Not a luxury hotel, but good staff and clean rooms and - again - location, location, location!

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Hair revival is a real treat! I saw the original and don't remember having as much fun (tho I WAS 22 back then and trying to be cool and calm about everything). Actually, many musicals and plays to see and half-price tix are the best for a family. But often tickets are still at the box-office an hr or so before curtain; you're just taking a chance of course.

Great Location, tired room

Midtown location was exceptional for easy access to the entire city. Subway stop at the front door! The room was small and very tired. The place was great for the couple that wants to spend very little time in the hotel and a lot of time experiencing NYC.

Great location for travel

We stayed three days in total at Wellington Hotel. What we liked most is its GREAT location. From the window of our small room on the 20th floor, the lights from Times Square looks gorgeous at nights. Thanks to its great location, we could walk back from Times Square, or the Fifth avenue, or Rockefeller Center in no more than 15mins late at nights. Here comes the bad parts, this is an old hotel with small rooms, it has everything that a Motel does. The staff there, at least that we have encountered, are not friendly at all, especially the lady at the front desk (don't get me wrong, they can answer your question in a very short way, and they do can help you to check in/out). The stuffs at the front gate watched us carrying big languages on the stairs without offering any help. Suggestions: If you plan to rent a car, definitely rent from Hertz, since there is very convenient rent/return location nearby; The subway station is just at its SIDE door which is closed at night; Using a shuttle service from/to airport is convenient. In general, we like this hotel only due to its SUPER location and not-expensive cost.

great location

The hotel's perfect location makes it easy to get to Times Square, shopping, Central Park and down to lower Manhattan via the Subway. There was one mixup with our check in process but it was handled in a timely and professional manner. The rooms were small but it is New York City. Overall, if we go back to Manhattan we would stay there again.

Lots of Bang for the Buck!

The hotel is located so close to all the best that Midtown has to offer. Just walk out the door and something interesting awaits you in any direction that you walk. Close to subway and walking distance to Central Park and Rockafeller Plaza with lots of places to eat very nearby.
