Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Location good

I'm a senior and can't sit without back support to use my laptop. The lack of a table, even a pullout shelf, was a negative. On this point alone I would (could) not go back.

Quality lodging

We rented a suite for three adults, us and one adult daughter. The room was spacious even with a double bed in the "living room" (it also had a seperate bedroom). We couldn't have been happier, and the staff was super. Always ready to help - set us up with a private car to get us to the airpirt that was quicker and less expensive than a cab, plus the driver helped us with check-in at LaGuardia. We will definately stay there again - would recommend to anyone. Location perfect if attending a Broadway show...right by Times Square, with inexpensive eateries all around. Loved it!

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

Use the bellboys for everything - suggestions for a place to eat, how to get somewhere quickly, help in the hotel. They are amazing.

Wellington is Well Worth It!

The Wellington is really a wonderful hotel in a fabulous location, accessible to everything. The front desk staff are as nice as can be. The updated rooms and clean bathroom make your stay very comfortable. If your A/C does not seem to cool as much as you think it should, just keep turning the knob clockwise and everything kicks in nicely. A great home base to enjoy the greatest city in the world. The REAL bonus is the coffee shop/restaurant attached to the hotel. The pancakes are phenomenal and the egg dishes are delicious. The hostesses have been there a long time and the service is great. ENJOY!

Average room, reasonable rates

Very good location near the theatres. Easy to get to shows. Subway access right at the hotel's side entrance. For our sightseeing trip, it was centrally located. Our full-sized bedroom was "cozy" and the elevators were small, but the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Wellington Hotel on 7thAV@55th St

The hotel was more than OK. Great location (near Central Park and Times Square), good service, rooms were clean. The interior is a bit old-fashioned and some fresh paint here and there wouldn't harm, but overall a quite good place to stay.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

If you don't like fifth Avenue for shopping (too posh...), try the neighbourhood around Canal Street/Broadway nearby Little Italy.
