Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

New York on a Budget

The rooms are some of the smallest in Manhattan, and the amenities at the Wellington are few and far between. The location, price, and cleanliness more than make up for what the Wellington lacks. It's only a few blocks from Central Park--try to beat that for the price. How much time are you going to spend in your (tiny) room anyway? It's New York City, baby! The city never sleeps, so why should you?

awesome trip!

The wellington hotel has a great location, about 2 blocks from times square and broadway shows. Also about 2 blocks from central park and 5th avenue. A little outdated and but overall a great place to stay! And just to clarify for you all they do have internet but you have to pay for it.

Best kept secret in Midtown Manhatten

I have stayed at the Wellington about 10 times. I have tried other hotels but always come back to the Wellington. I won't stray again! It is a great location, a few blocks from Central Park. The Theatre District and Rockefeller Center are not that far so are walkable. The subway is right at the hotel. Many great deli's close by and Fluffy's Cafe and Bakery in the next block is a daily stop for me. Bagels, black and white cookies, pastries, sandwiches, breakfast, etc. and their staff is great. There is a restaurant connected to the Wellington. Sorry, the name escapes me but it has a variety of foods and the service is very good. The staff at the Wellington-reception, bellboys, and housekeepers- are very helpful and friendly. I had a bathroom problem and it was fixed immediately. The Wellington also has their own transportation vehicles. I don't know if they pick up at the airport. I took it back to the airport and it was a good ride. My new experiences for this trip: the New York Public Library has a free tour at 11 am and at 2pm. It is well worth the hour it lasts. Also their gift shop is one of the best I have seen. I also found the MOMA Design store on 53rd St and it has some of the neatest and most useful products for sale.

Wellington Hotel

The Wellington is a old hotel. The pysical charm is not as great as some of the other hotels in the city. This is a great hotel for the traveler on a budget. If you understand all this from the begining you will have a great stay. Due to age the rooms are small. In the room we had, the fixtures (tub, toilets, etc.) were old. Everything worked and the bedding and room was clean and maintained. The location and staff made up for any lack in hotel appearance. The bellmen and concierge were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the city. The greek resturaunt attached to the hotel had some great authentic dishes. Roomservice was available late into the night. I rated the hotel 4 stars because the value of the location, great staff, roomservice availibilty and the lower cost of a nightly stay. I would stay here again without hesitation!

Eh, reaally cruddy.

The lobby looked nice. The people working there were all nice too. Unfortunately, the elevator was tiny and never showed up if you called it from your floor. The "suite" I had was definitely not a suite. It was two tiny bedrooms with old furniture connected by a small hallway and cruddy bathroom. This hotel was not very enjoyable at all.
