Our first family visit to New York
We had a great experience. We arrived early morning with very little sleep. The manager arranged to get us into a room at a much earlier time which was greatly appreciated. The staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We will definitely recommend the Wellington Hotel to all of our friends and family.

Okay
The hotel does not have a concierge and I needed help because of the train derailment. Reception tried to help, but are not concierges. There is no one to help in the business center, so I could not make bus reservations on line and had to go to the Port Authority to get a ticket. The bathroom was too small for one. And I was not sure they changed the bed linens every day. Good location. The hotel has an excellent car service. All in all not worth what I paid for the room.

Staff could use improvements
We spent 5 nights in the Wellington Hotel. The location was wonderful but don't expect more than just a good place to sleep. Not only was the service lacking but we ended up having to take care of our requests ourselves. A laundry bin was left in the halls for the entire time of our stay which was an eyesore. A broken handle to the door next to the elevator made it quite inconvenient entering and exiting. The staff was not just unfriendly but sometimes straightout rude, leaving half of our luggage to take ourselves because they saw someone arrive in a limousine. The maid was the only exception who was welcoming and polite.

This was a perfect location - close to Broadway plays - able to take the subway or bus directly to Times Square. The staff was very helpful. Room was comfortable - a nice home away from home.

Love the location!
The room was much larger than we were expecting and the location was perfect! I would recommend this hotel big time. This isn't super fancy, but that staff is friendly and the bell desk is super helpful. Best of all, the gentlemen in the gift shop that books tours is worth the entire stay!

Good value for location
It's very basic. I got upgraded to a suite, which was very roomy, so I don't know what the regular rooms are like. The suite had lots of room, and it was very clean, but don't expect fancy anything. The staff were very nice. The Greek restaurant downstairs was terrific.

Good location for subway access
Cons: One night, the pipes was making loud noises which woke me up & I had to shut the bathroom door to minimize it. The hot water was never constant. It was taking a shower & every 5 minutes, someone flushed the toilet. Pros: The maids clean the room later in the day so the knocking doesn't disturbed my sleep. The staff was very helpful & courteous. The location for subway access was perfect for me. On 55th street is the N-Q-R trains, right next to the hotel's side entrance. Central Park was just blocks away. You can see Times Square at night from the sidewalk. I would definitely get a room here the next time I visit NYC.

Great location
Located in a safe, tourist-filled area. Small rooms are to be expected in NYC and this is no exception. Furnishings are a little old, but this hotel is a great value for the traveler who is out sightseeing most of the day anyways.

what happened
i've stayed here many times in the past. never again. shower curtain too short-"flooding" bathroom floor. the overall appearance is one of sloppiness, chipped paint, stains on wallpaper, a loose access panel inthe bathroom, etc. way overpriced for this experience. and what's your problem-a nickname is a nickname is a nickname?

Overbooked in worcester
Bait and switch with Wellington
I arrived at 5:15 on Friday afternoon and was told that they had overbooked the hotel and they did not have a room for me . I would have to stay at the hotel across the street. I told them I had made reservations with relative at the Wellington and we would prefer to be together . They said they could not accommodate me but I would be upgraded to a nicer room at the new hotel. When I arrived across the street they said they could not give me an upgrade. I was not impressed and would recommend you stay elsewhere.

two kind employees
Wellington Hotel was just ok. Out of all the employees I had contact with only two were kind-Frank the bellman and the woman who answered the receptionist phone on Sunday morning (4/28 at 10 a.m.). All others seem to be above us 'commoners' staying there. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure great, but the room is old school. As a runner though, Central Park right next door was ideal.

Long walk from hotel
Worth it to walk to theater district if the weather is good, rather than taxi.
