Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Apartment hunt

I stayed at this hotel for six nights while searching for an apartment in the city. I've stayed in many New York hotels on many visits, and finally decided to get an apartment. The quality at this hotel is quite good for a rating of three stars. The room was relatively small, but this is common in New York. At times, the service was relatively slow, but the staff was generally helpful and pleasant. The location is central and excellent, quite close to many attractions, restaurants, and important landmarks.

The Beacon and Kinky Boots

Our two nights at the Wellington Hotel in NYC was very good. Everything met our expectations with the room very clean and everything was functional. The location was perfect for us where it was well within walking distance to the Beacon Theater and the Theater District. The small lobby got a little crazy at times when large groups were checking in/out. Would have appreciated a coffee maker in room, but did not have to leave the building to get to coffee shop next door.

Great location, small room

Even by NYC standards, this room is SMALL. But you can't beat the location, subway stop right outside the door, Central Park four short blocks away. Many dining options thin a few blocks

2nd stay at this property

This was our second stay at the Wellington. The location and price. The rooms and bathrooms are small but given the age of the hotel it is understandable. I would consider The Wellington again for my future trips to NYC.

In the Middle of Everything

The Wellington has very friendly and helpful staff from the reception desk, doorman, housekeeping to concierge services. The hotel rooms are average, and that's what you need when staying in New York. Who wants to stay in the room when there is so much to see and do? The showers are hot, the bed is good and you can get ice from the guys in the lobby. We liked being close to the theater district, Central Park, the subway, and the museums.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Eat in "The Devil's Living Space" Kitchen area on 9th Avenue. You can find ANY kind of food you want and much of it is very reasonably priced. (had to be cryptic because website won't let me use a form of Hades even though it's the name of the area)

Perfect location

Great central location close to many attractions, Concierges are very helpful they sorted a taxi for our return trip. All staff were friendly. Had a lovely meal at there hotel's Greek restaurant. Not the most luxurious hotel but nicely decorated and clean. It was great as a base camp.

Birthday and Graduation Getaway

The arrival to the Big Apple was an incredible experience. Upon entering the hotel there was a mystic that was overwhelming; the staff was bustling and the attention was welcoming. The bellhops were active and inquisitive with guests. Some were more gregarious than others. After having checking in the luggage, we spent time walking around to see the city. We went to art stores, FAO Shwarz, and Central Park to become more accommodated to the new surroundings. The city was charming and the pace of life on the streets was everything one hopes for when in New York. The hotel, sadly, did not meet the same expectations. The room was very small, but had a great view. Some of the amenities were lacking. The absence of hot water, the shower had blistering water pressure, and the walls were somewhat thin. When entering the room, a claustrophobic feeling set in and it was difficult to find that special ambiance of a hotel room in New York. All in all, the stay was excellent because of the sights seen, except for the Museum of Modern Art for which we had high expectations. I would recommend the city to a friend, but not the hotel and not the MOMA. The booking company had excellent service and the hotel did as well. Unfortunately, the hotel room was not what we thought it would be and much could have been done to make it a better experience. All in all, it was an amazing experience to celebrate the special occasions of a birthday and graduation.

Wonderful Stay in NYC

We and our friends enjoyed our stay at The Wellington. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Judd the Bellman. The rooms were small, but nicely appointed and the bed comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent. Within blocks of Times Square and Central Park.
