The Washington Square Hotel is a reflection of the famous Greenwich Village neighborhood in which it is located. Home to some of the most celebrated New York artists and performers over the years, the area has a distinct bohemian feel to it and the Washington Square Hotel reflects this with an Art Deco feel throughout. Enjoy a daily continental breakfast, 24-hour reception service, free Wi-Fi Internet access, a fully equipped fitness center, massage and facial services upon request and the elegant North Square Restaurant and Lounge.
Rooms
Keeping with the theme of the rest of the building, guest rooms are newly renovated with Art Deco features, evoking thoughts of turn-of-the-century Paris and Berlin. Suites at the Washington Square Hotel offer the ultimate comfort and opulence with pillow top mattresses and dark wood and red leather upholstered furniture pieces that accentuate the Art Deco look. Guests enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, phones with data ports, in-room safety deposit boxes and full in-room ironing facilities. The en suite bathrooms continue the Art Deco theme with dark wood shelving and mosaic tiles giving a crisp and clean feel to each one. Also, complimentary bathrobes are included and fresh towels are provided daily. Guests will also enjoy the breathtaking city views from their room, including views of nearby Washington Square Park.

Right location, great staff

I booked this hotel due to its proximity to a conference I was attending in the village. It borders Washington Square and all of the nightlife, dining and NYU are only a short block away. Close to public transportation as well. It is a quiet hotel, the staff was exceptionally helpful, friendly and competent. Breakfast was very nice, served to the table and just right. The room was very clean, tiny, but comfortable. The hallway was a bit dingy though well-lit, dirty carpets but upkeep on carpets tracked on by NYC winters simply cannot be kept immaculately clean. I was a woman travelling alone and felt entirely safe and comfortable in this hotel. I would book it again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic hotel with friendly staff and a great location.

NYU Move In

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2013 when our daughter moved into her residence hall at NYU. The location to campus was ideal, and access to the park was easy. Although we were on the first floor the street noise was relatively minimal for NYC (I was expecting much worse!) The hotel is clean & inviting with an early Hollywood theme which my daughter loved. We also loved the history of the hotel, and learning about the notables who stayed there in the past. We had a twin bed room and were very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was standard but just what we needed, and the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.

Great Staff, Great Locations

This was my second time at the Washington Square Hotel in Manhattan. It's downtown location in a vibrant community is awesome. Close to PATH and NYC Subway (A-C-E), on Washington Square, and friendly, accommodating staff. Couldn't have been better.

Great Hotel

Above all, great location on beautiful Wash Sq Park, very close to W 4th St subway that gets you all over the city. Good room and bathroom size with exception of closet. Great value. Attentive, friendly, and bright staff.

Great, cozy hotel

I've stayed at this hotel twice and will be happy to many more in the future. It's cozy, quiet, and the neighborhood and location are fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only tiny 'you should know' is: the rooms and bathroom are small, as most NYC older hotels are. That's quite typical - not unusual - but if you can't deal with small rooms, this is not for you. My experience there has been wonderful.
