Horrible Experience

Arrived at 845 PM. I landed in the morning from overseas, I rang the intercom. Some rude guy said to wait there. I have all my luggage. He gave me a code after 15 minutes. Went in to the apartment abd was not able to go in. went out again and rang. I waited again, he gave another code. went in and again, could not get in. He gave me 5 codes. He even had an attitude, stating I might be doing something wrong. Then, I goit in . A few minutes later needed to buy water. Same situation. Next day got voice mail that I did not check in!!!

The worst accommodation - a nightmare

I will be seeking compensation for a standard of accommodation and service exceeded by my recent trip to Ethiopia. Two locals warned us of the poor quality even before we entered via a dingy, dirty set of three steps. The first apartment had a cupboard with no rail or hangers, and was used as a store cupboard. The promised keys we would find inside were not there and the front door had clearly been tampered with. We did not feel safe here. The only contact with management was via an intercom that was answered 70% of the time time. At others it went to voicemail. The second apartment smelt of gas, had loose wires from fridge to socket and stank. My complaints went unheeded.. My colleaugue's apartment had a trickle of a shower and no plug in the bath. The place was appallingly maintained, lacking in care, courtesy and follow up.

Bad Option: They canceled my reservation

I arrived in the evening to discover that they had no room for me. They claimed that my room was canceled by[...]. The Hotel offered to find me another room in another of their locations, but the other location didn't work for me at all. In the end, I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with [...]staff and hotel staff with neither taking responsibility for their mix up. [...]I'm unsure whether the hotel will issue a refund. I had to find another hotel by walking the streets and paying $250+ per night for what I eventually found at 12:30 am. Try this hotel if you like standing on the sidewalk for 2.5 hours talking on your cell phone, at roaming rates, to a series of earnest but ultimately unhelpful [...]staff and not-my-problem hotel staff.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Check the sign at the door to see if the pest exterminator has been there recently. The sign is prominently displayed near the front door.

Nice Midtown Experience

This wasn't the best hotel I have ever stayed at. You had to buzz yourself in, but it felt safe, was close to the UN and gave you a kind of midtown small-to-medium/small sized apartment. For myself, it wasn't bad at all. I really liked it and it was a good price.

Not good!

Ridiculously over priced!!!! I spent the new years weekend with my husband in this "hotel" the paint was peeling off, the door lock was loose, the hard wood floor had cracks everywhere, missing tiles in the bathroom, we did not get house keeping service on Saturday and they where knocking on our door on Sunday before check out time asking us if we where going to check out on that day. I knew it was the new years weekend but... come on!!! I paid like I was staying at the plaza when I was really in a very bad hotel room!! The cancelation policy is outrageous, that why I did not leave.

The UN Apartments is conveniently

The UN Apartments is conveniently located and is reasonably priced. I only stayed there for one night but I enjoyed it. The bed is very comfortable and, apart from lack of hot water the following morning, the facilities are excellent and suit my needs.

You'd be crazy to stay here

You would be crazy to stay here. The hotel (really a fairly low-rent apartment building) is unattended, there is a speaker at the door, you can speak to a remote attendant who will let you in the building. The apartments in the building are a mix of residents and apartments owned by the hotel company who rents them out. The rental apartments are very small, not great but adequate for the price. Mine had some peeling paint, some small closets and a rudimentary kitchen. But the creepy thing is that the residents or people in the neighborhood have the codes to the apartments! I wasn't there an hour when a tall black woman barged in on me! She clearly uses the apartment for I don't know what when she thinks there is no one there! And 45 minutes later a guy barges in and runs when I make some noise. Fortunately by this time I had chained the door. This place has ZERO security. You would be crazy to stay here because someone or more than someone will barge in on you. I am not sure what is going on in these apartments when they are unoccupied....but I don't think it's anything good. Be safe, do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else. I packed up my stuff and ran off to another hotel. A real hotel. With a front desk and a staff and security cameras. You should do the same.
