Mostly great experience

Manhattan below 23rd St. has become a hipster theme park from river to river, but TriBeCa is still something of an oasis, so this hotel is ideally situated. The atrium design has the potential for noise infiltrating the rooms, but the doors and ventilation system keep the rooms absolutely quiet. My AT&T cell phone didn't work in the room, but on the plus side internet service is free. I'll definitely come back.

posh, pleasant

Friendly very helpful staff. Room smaller than one might expect at this price. Limited restaurant, on weekends this basically a party club. Odd courtyard, like some mid-Western Marriot. Good room service. Got all I asked for quickly.

Tribeca Grand not Grand

I've stayed at TG a number of times over the years, liked the location and never minded that they substituted hipness/coolness for many amenities and features that other hotels routinely provide. However, this past weekend the hotel held a REALLY LOUD party in the lobby---to which all rooms are in some way connected because they all have doors facing the atrium (the lobby-lounge is at the bottom of the Atrium). The rooms all have white noise machines (it's in the city, after all), but the music for this party was rumbling up through the very structural members of the building, and penetrating the door as if it were tissue paper. There was no warning about this party when the room was booked, and no warning on that day, and it went on until about 4 in the morning! The next day I had a lunch scheduled there. My filet came dry and well done when I had ordered med-rare. They brought another one---cold in the middle, and raw. This hotel is staffed by interns and its glory days are so over!

That was GREAT

Where to start? I love hotels and if it isn't right, the rest of the trip no matter how great will be diminished. This hotel exceeded my expectations from the second we arrived. Desk staff was friendly, cheerful and seemed happy to see us. We were there at 12 but they got us a room right away so we could get settled then out to explore. The hotel itself is a stunner, modern but very warm, lobby/bar area suffused in golden lighting, amazing candelit wall like a modern grotto, spectacular, open atrium eight stories high, lots of room. Room itself was spacious for NYC and GREAT amenities, Malin and Goetz toiletries luxurious touch. Bed comfy, robe velvety, everything immaculate. There is even a white noise machine, which I didn't even need, and I am a light sleeper. Location was outstanding, Tribeca area loaded with shopping and great restaurants right outside your door, walk to Chelsea Market,WTC and the Village, but train stop across the street if you don't feel like walking. Price amazing for what you get. Highly highly recommended.

We stayed in the Tribeca Grand

We stayed in the Tribeca Grand hotel for 7 nights and did not want to leave! After the taxi dropped us off at their sister hotel the Soho Grand Hotel, the doorman walked us three blocks pulling both our suitcases so we avoided another taxi in the evening traffic...! Being brand new to the US and not overly conscious of the requirement to tip this - the doorman didn't even wait around in expectation (which was the case in other scenarios - however not with this hotel). The rooms were always expertly cleaned daily, any requests for cutlery, glasses, etc were received well with very prompt service. I also must comment on how good-looking all the staff were! So much so that we started to think maybe it was a prerequisite for employment with this hotel that you be super good-looking, with individual style and pizazz to boot. Super friendly, super professional and very worth the money you pay. I will return without a doubt.

Perfect oasis to soothe the soul

While my colleagues all stayed at 4 star midtown hotels, like the Intercontinental, I selected THE WINNER as everyone agreed Tribeca Grand was a unique hotel with an ambiance and staff that were unusually wonderful. As a first time guest, I was pleasantly surprised at being given a room on the top floor (8th) which was roomy and quiet. The A,C and E subway stops right by the hotel, so you can travel around quickly and cheaply, altho the doormen always cheerfully grab a taxi for the guest. An especially charming and helpful doorman is [...], who arrives at work at 7 am, with a smile. I will select this hotel whenever I seek 4 star treatment in busy noisy Manhattan, and recommend it to all my friends. Nice bar scene on weekends with a DJ spinning dance tunes. The Trump Soho nearby was gloomy and not as nice.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

Many late night dining places with great food open till the wee hours in the neighborhood. Just a mile away is the fabulous City Winery, featuring wines on tap - Sonoma Merlot was awesome, with live music from top artists.
