Good Enough!!

I was deciding between this and an airbnb spot. But I wanted a place that had a good bed (not some college kid's futon) a bathroom (not sharing one with everyone's suff everywhere) and the ability to enter/leave whenever I want (with airbnb places, they are in private condos/apartments and either aren't supposed to be letting, or have door rules). This hotel delivered just fine for the price and location. However, there was some misleading on the amenities. I couldn't control the heat in the room and there was no no alarm clock in the room. I was ok this time around, but maybe not the next.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Chinatown and Little Italy are next door. But, walk two blocks west to West Broadway, take a left (south) and you will see some good spots on Thomas street.

great location/hotel lacking

All staff were lovely...but beds uncomfortable, rooms terribly small, room needed vacuuming, they need to buy new pillows.

in New York City for a night

given the great rate I got for this place, it was perfect!! Rooms are small (as are all mid-level NYC hotel rooms), but clean and the bathroom fixtures were brand new, which felt very nice. Bedding fresh (white duvet cover, etc.) and comfortable, a view from the eighth floor of the city. My only complaint is that there is absolutely no place to hang up your clothes!! That seemed a bit odd for a hotel. I don't need a big closet for one night, but still, you want to hang up a few things, but there were no hangers and no hooks or rods anywhere (except the shower rod). But the man at the front desk was very pleasant and all in all I'd definitely stay there again (assuming I can get one of those good last minute rates).

Average Rating But We Did Enjoy Our Stay

Pluses: The room was very clean, and we arrived early for a wedding so they got our room ready 3 hours early for us! Minuses: Would have really liked a hotel with a lobby instead of just a check in desk. No place to have a cocktail or to just relax. And although we reserved a king size room, there was only a small desk and 1 chair. Perfect for one person but nowhere for the second person to even sit. Thought because of the name it would have been in Tribeca but its in Chinatown. That was not a big deal because it was close to city hall for the wedding we attended, close to the 911 Museum and Memorial and only 3 blocks from Little Italy. So if this is the location you need in NYC and you are solo, I would recommend it if the price is right. If you want amenities, this is not the place.

We love staying around Soho and refuse to pay the crazy hotel prices around Manhattan, and usually gravitate to renting out an apartment for weekly stays. We quite often use Hotel Azure when using a hotel around SoHo, and have been pretty happy, but after staying at Tribecca Blu, it certainly a better choice. Rooms are slightly bigger, quieter, and very clean. Although curb appeal isn't so great due to location on Canal Street, location convenience trumps it enough to garner my continued business with it. Mr, two thumbs!

Pretty good

I was very happy to be able to upgrade my room at the last minute at no extra charge. The room was extremely clean. Room was also small and street noisy, but I expected that from other reviews. I don't think a room on canal street can get much quieter, bring ear plugs. For one of the cheaper hotels in Manhattan I was pleased.

Two At The Most.

And I'm not talking Dorothy Parker! The hotel is right where you want it to be for visiting NYC/Manhattan, easily accessible, about a 10-15min cab ride from the "LargeBus" dropoff, and about a 15-20min subway ride to Midtown. That's about it. You're paying for the price of the dirt the hotel sits on. There are no amenities, unless you count a bathroom in the basement. The room is very small with nowhere to hang anything. ANYTHING. I put my suit on the towel rack in the bathroom. Luckily my girlfriend & I love each other, because we were on top of each other the whole time, the room is that small. It is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the doorman/concierge/front deskman/everyman let me borrow an umbrella, which came through in the clutch. They also don't know what their check-out times are. My payment confirmation said noon, the placard on the back of the door says noon, but they say 11. Whatever. It won't break the bank, but for what you get.....come on.
