Great Location...Huge Clean Room

The hotel was very clean. The rooms were big. The only COmplaint I have is that the AC/Heater kept turning on and off all night. So the noise from the fan was constantly turning on and off. Could not get a good nights sleep. I HIGHLY recommend, messing around with the room temperature controls before u go to sleep. If not you will be woken up every 5 minutes by the loud sounds of this Fan turning on and off

pretty good

I stayed here for a weekend trip to New York during the holidays. The first thing I noticed is the friendliness of the staff. The hotel appears to be an older building that has been redone. The upsides: The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The downsides: The walls are thin - when the room next door would turn on TV it would come blaring through our wall. The bathroom and closet doors need replacing; you can tell they have been painted several times to make them look new. Also, the ceiling had cracks and needs replacing with new drywall. Not that I wouldn't stay here again, but I think it wouldn't be my first choice. As far as location, we always seemed to end up on the west side and had to walk to the east side, which seemed far. However, it was on a quiet street, and our floor was quiet, which I appreciated.

Weekend of the 50,000 Santas

We were very pleased with almost everything about the Tuscany, with one exception--the lighting was seriously inadequate (except in the bathroom). Luckily our stay was strictly vacation. If I had had any work to do, I could not have done it after sundown, no matter how many lamps I moved. The location was perfect, the room was large and very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. If it weren't for the abysmal lighting, I would be inclined stay there on all my business trips.

NYC Marathon 2011

I stayed here on saturday 5 Nov - loved the location , very impressed with the size of the rooms, clean, wonderful bathroom and Philosophy Projects. Only complaint - the guy who checked in the bags - " go on give us a smile" - a tad miserable to say the least, no sense of humour.

Good for NYC

The hotel was nice, but priced to be nice. They had CFL bulbs in the room, but the fixtures were all dimmer equipped and even when turned up the room always seemed a little dark. One of the elevators seemed to "rub" on it's track and made noise which we could hear in the room. We had to call for a hair dryer, a listed amenity, and they sent one up immediately. Overall a nice place, but not cheap.

Just mediocre.......

The room's location was ideal for our night in NYC...yet, the room was not clean....toothpaste smudged on the bathroom door, hair in the sink and on the bathroom celing! The room itself was very dark, and the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom made me wonder if the rest of the room was unclean as well! Overall the expereince was fine, but it was alot to spend on a room with literally no view (barbed wire outside our window) and somewhat unclean.

Quiet location - ideal for sightseeing

This was our second stay at the Tuscany although it has changed ownership since our last visit. Whilst our room decor was begining to look a little tired, the room itself was large and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and bed linen clean and fresh. Although it lacks a restaurant, the breakfast bar offered a wide choice but I felt that room service was somewhat pricey. Generally the staff were very friendly and helpful, the only exception being the young lady behind the bar who completely ignored me whilst she chatted with her little clique of regulars. Its a small bar and after 5 minutes I walked away without being served. The hotel's location is ideal for sightseeing , just a couple of blocks from Grand Central and a short walk to Times Square. The Empire State Building and Maceys are also close to hand. Their rooms are reasonably priced and I would have no recommendation in recommending this Hotel to others

Nice Hotel, Friendly People

Terrific room with fair rates, and the front desk staff is terrific. The phone system is linked with the sister hotel next door, which means information doesn't always get communicated. Waited one hour for ice to be delivered (no machines). Overall, terrific value, great neighborhood and warm folks.
