Luxury Midtown boutique hotel cops a fun attitude
This June, The Roger is unveiling a sophisticated new look after extensive renovations of its public spaces and guest rooms.  Standing at the crossroads of uptown and downtown, the new Roger is a marriage of chic design and old world comfort, while continuing an unyielding commitment to superior service.  The fresh aesthetic of the Roger's new lobby lounge and restaurant is curated by hospitality guru Steven Kamali and designed by the notable Anna Busta.  To update the spacious guest rooms, The Roger tapped Annette Jaffe of MSM.  Roger's new look is characterized by lush custom pieces and applied moldings to naturally compliment the historic building's unique rooms.  Whether for only a night or a week's long stay, The Roger is the modern traveler's home away from home.
Highlights

Nothing close to 5 star hotel

This hotel is far from being 5 stars as advertise. During checking I was asked to pay an additional dayly fee of $19.99 for local and 1-800 calls, internet and Gym. I said that I did not want any of those services and the receptionist was rude and infered I was being cheap. I did not like that. Our room was old and the carpet, by the entrance, had a five inch black stain (desgusting). The bathroon floor was rotten and peeling. People smoked pot inside their rooms all the time. There is no smoke detector as they claim. Go figure. Bottom line is, if you dont want to be upset do not stay in this hotel

Overpriced, undersized, previous monastic use; and it still feels that way.

This is the worst property that we have ever stayed in in NYC. In fact, it is the worst property we have ever stayed in anywhere on the planet; and we have traveled extensively for more than fifty years. No one should be exposed to bed bugs, filth, cockroaches, and such rude and incompetent staff..

Heat- Unbearable!

Would'nt have been terrible if we could have lowered the heat. Our first impression from the street was that it was a beautiful hotel. It was decorated with christmas lights and looked very elegant. The lobby was very nice as well. Our room was small and the bathroom reminded us of an airplane bathroom. It was very small. As I said before it would'nt have been terrible if we could only lower the heat. My husband and I were there to celebrate his 50th birthday. When we returned from dinner we knew we could'nt spend the night in such a warm room. I called the desk and the clerk said he would move us to a different room. We moved to a floor below but the room there seemed quite warm as well. I assumed it would get a little cooler. We even put on the a/c but we could never get the room cooler than 78 degrees. We could'nt sleep all night. When I complained to the manager at the front desk in the morning she said she couldnt give us any credit because we prepaid [...]

Good location but had to change rooms

Really like the location, close to Columbia university and also Columbus Circle so you can do some grocery shopping for breakfast at Whole Foods and avoid paying $23 for a bagel with cheese and juice. The first room they gave me had small hair all over the bed sheets. When I complained they quickly replaced the room to a bigger one. But here some channels on the flat screen were not working and the wireless internet wouldn't connect. For this reason I grade it low. However, everything else was great...

Whole Foods on 60th and Broadway is great. No really -- check out the cooked food section. If you are staying for extend period of time only. If you are there for a few days then you probably don't want to go to a super market in New York.

Will never EVER stay here again!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Roger Williams overnight on 10/8/11 through 10/9/11. We left our home in a NYC suburb and drove into Manhattan. We went immediately to the Hotel Roger Williams where we stored our luggage in their luggage storage area since our room wasn’t ready. A few hours later we were given a room and stayed overnight at the Hotel Roger Williams. The next morning we immediately got back into our car and drove home. Two days later, my husband discovered a bed bug crawling on the comforter on our bed. We contacted the Hotel Roger Williams immediately and informed them that we had found a bed bug. The next day we contacted several extermination companies; sent them a picture of the bug and received a visual confirmation that it was, in fact, a bed bug. On Thursday, 10/13/11, we had a canine inspection of our home and the dog found evidence of bed bugs ONLY in the luggage that we had taken to the Hotel Roger Williams with us. We immediately had to get rid of the luggage and any items that were laying close to the luggage. We have now spent close to $800 in inspections and are still not certain if we will have to treat our entire house which will cost anywhere from $900 to $2500, at a minimum; not to mention the lost value of the items that we had to throw out. I will never EVER stay at this hotel again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad experience, bad hotel, excell staff

we selected this hotel based on good reviews ,the first room problem was that the TV remote control didn't work so instead of fixing the problem they relocated us to another room which was freezing cold and after we turned the heat on it only gave cold air and we called the desk it turned out that the whole building doesnt have thd heater on and the air was on Neutral(whatever that means). They offered a space heater and we tured it on; so when we tried to use the iron the electicity went off and they said we can use one thing at at a time, either the iron or the heater (keeping in mind that we had a long trip and we arrived New york late night. Around 4:00 am that same day (reminding you we were moving and calling all night long) we woke up on load banging by 3 drunk next door tenants, we called the front desk again to report it and that was our experince for the first time we stay in the hotel The staff through al that were trying to help to the max but all that was dissapointing experience to us
