business class hotel - not luxury

The hotel is great but I would say it caters mostly to business travel and is not overly luxurious. I was at the Chicago Ritz Carlton the following week which is much more luxurious. The lobby and bar are small and nondescript. The rooms are nice and large for New York. I like the location as it is close to multiple subway lines -- but if you are not comfortable taking the subway, it can be a long distance by cab to midtown.

simply amazing

Hotel was very comfortable with an excellent view. Loved the size of the bathroom and comfortness of the king size bed. There always was plenty cabs out front which made it easy to access transportation.

First class hotel in a perfect location for the Statue of Liberty or Staten Island ferries

Great hotel in lower Manhattan. Walk around Battery Park or take the ferry to Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island or Staten Island. Not convenient to life in mid-town Manhattan.

Amazing room with a view!

The hotel was beautiful and we were given an amazing room with views of the Statue of Liberty (hotel even provided a telescope!). The room was spacious and well appointed, staff were friendly and location was great for sightseeing in downtown Manhattan

Manhattan review

Very pleased.Great view of harbor and Statue of Liberty. Telescope was nice but not really needed. Room decor nice but little too contemporary for my taste with comfortable bed. In room safe large enough for SRL camera. Area and hotel was quiet Duane-Reade drugstore across the street wiht adjacent deli-grocery Zaytuna that had great takeout meals. Would be good for anyone who wants to pack a lunch at Battery Park. Altho the subway stations were close by, we found Taxi to museums, etc very reasonable 20 dollars plus tip. Stayed on Club floor and enjoyed lounge, especially breakfast. Lox, bagels, berries, fruit, meat, cheese, oatmeal, rolls, great Expresso machine (my favorite part of stay), juices and soft drinks. Did not eat midday snack but evening hourderves nice. Do not drink but appeared cocktails as well as wine and champagne available. Computer with printer available for use in Club lounge. I will definitely make this my hotel of choice while visitng NYC. Did not use dining room or health club so cannot comment on these.

Ritz Carlton service all the way!

The staff at this facility is superb. They were always there to help and management was perfect. I've stayed at the Ritz Carlton properties in Phila., Foggy Bottom D.C., and South Beach Miami. The product in Battery Park is typical for Ritz service and niceties. My only issue is the room size could be larger, not a fault with the staff, but rather the property.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Be prepared to either slug it out in cabs or take the subway. Battery Park is wonderful if you'd like to get some sleep while you're in NY, but it's about a 20 min $20 cab ride to midtown.

Poor value for Money

Began with poor and uncaring check-in and continued to deteriorate Not worth the money Despite the good location, you can end up looking at the pathetic battery tunnel Go somewhere else for less money!

NYC - 5 Boro Bike Ride

We were in NYC for the 5 Boro Bike Ride which began practically on the doorstep of the Ritz Carlton. We stayed on the Club floor which was perfect! Every morning we had a bit of breakfast, and in the afternoons if we were around we enjoyed the food put out for snack. The cookies were amazing as was the shrimp, and the rest. In the Club lounge we were taken care of by Yolanda who was amazing - quiet, friendly, and very efficient! Our room was perfect and the beds VERY comfortable - it made for a GREAT get-away.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Just across the street is the Staten Island Ferry - its FREE! It has the best views of the Manhattan skyline, Lady Liberty and Ellis Island and it is all FREE! Would also recommend buying a 7 day Metro pass which you can use on the bus or subway. What a DEAL, it gets you everywhere without sitting in traffic!
