Very Nice. Especially for the Money

Very Polite staff. Parking sucks, but right across from the MSG, what do I expect. Rooms were nice, but the bathroom was a bit dated. I would recommend to anyone.

Expensive budget hotel

I found that this hotel was expensive in comparison to what was offered. The hotel is in a run down part of 8th Ave. When you get out of the lift on your floor you immediately can see that the hotel needs updating. The rooms are very small - dusty- and considering the prices charged there no tea making facilities in the room. Fortunately I spent very little time at the hotel and would advise travellers to choose elsewhere

Great location, small room but comfy bed!

Hotel easily located for either mid up or downtown amenities. lots of delis / cafes nearby for breakfast etc., tho hotel has the Tick Tock diner (great for experiencing all American pancakes!) as well as a mini take out stand for coffee & muffins. Bed really comfy; hotel staff helpful. My only observation was that our room was only really big enough for 2 (there were 3 of us) but hey it's NYC, so for a few days who cares!

Get out and explore - it's easy but if on foot try and plan according to area e.g. if only there for a few days you don't want to go from Greenwich village to central park every day!!

central hotel and good value

Had a great 50% off deal with e-bookers which made it a good value visit to New York in a great location. We had a New Yorker Suite and the bedrooms were clean, with large comfy beds and pillows. No bedbugs or other creepy crawlies. Bathroom was compact and average. The adjoining 'lounge' was huge with a large dining table and 6 chairs, sofa, writing desk and fridge. Tv and stand. We were on 22nd floor in room 2249 and it had a terrace on two sides of our rooms. The view was of the Chrysler building - lovely at night. Unfortunately, the door to the terrace was ill-fitting and a dreadful draft blew through the lounge. Luckily there was a door to the bathroom and bedroom so we were ok - but we didn't use the lounge because it was so cold - despite the hot air heating. Staff were fine (not exactly friendly) but efficient. The location was great - we flew into Newark and within an hour of leaving the airport we were in our room. We used the NJ Rail transit which cost $12.50 per adult each way. One block from Madison Square Gardens, one block from Macey's, 4 blocks from Empire State Building. A 15 minute walk to Times Square and Broadway.

New York City Pass. If you like art then this is the one for you. It also admits you to the Empire State Building (don't bother with the upper floor there's no difference and it's enclosed). With this pass you get a free audio phone and it is GREAT! Guggenheim - very small and only worth an hour depending on exhibition. Moma - brilliant if you are into medern art. Met - amazing place - you need a while! 2 hour cruise round Manhattan - this was ok, but you could use the alternative attraction on the ticket instead (can't remember what it was) then take the free Staten Island Ferry for the same excellent views.

Stylish and Comfy!

My husband had an art opening in Chelsea. We had several couples from all over meet at the NY-er. Clean, NO bed bugs, efficient staff, quiet, fast elevators, great coffee shop. Loved the decor! Incredible location, we were able to walk anywhere we wanted to go, and the subway was right outside the door. Fun party atmosphere in the neighborhood! We got a great flight/hotel package deal.

IT WORKED WELL FOR US !!!

We had a grest time ! My friend and I took the Amtrak train from Union Stn. in Toronto directly to Penn Stn.(long day on the train, but fun.) We could see the hotel as soon as we got up to street level. The room was small, but clean, and we were hardly in it. Only complaint about the hotel was a downstairs restroom (off the lobby)that could only be accessed with a room key-- really needed to be cleaned. "Tick Tock" restaurant attached to the hotel was open 24 hrs-- really convenient! Many attractions within walking distance--Empire State Bldg./ Times Square. We've already decided that when we go back, we'll stay at The New Yorker.
