Chic decor, luxury amenities at this stylish hotel near Gramercy Park
This hotel is all about style. Its small size (just 135 rooms) and location in the Gramercy Park neighborhood make it feel more intimate and less touristy than a Midtown high-rise property. Modern furniture and animal print accents lend a hip vibe. Frette linens and marble bathrooms provide luxurious touches. A guest lounge offers free coffee and tea and computers for guests to use.
Highlights
  • Luxury linens and marble bathrooms
  • Guest lounge with seasonal outdoor terrace
Location

The neighborhood is known for its historic townhouses. Gramercy Park, however, is private, so only neighborhood residents have access. Union Square is a short walk from the hotel, and from there it's just a couple more blocks to the famous Strand Book Store. Greenwich Village, the East Village other exciting neighborhoods are an easy subway ride away.

Rooms

Rooms are chic and modern, with accents such as animal-print pillows, velvet drapes and leather headboards. Beds are dressed with Frette linens and down comforters. Marble bathrooms have bath products by Lather. Expect in-room amenities including iPod docking stations, bathrobes and slippers, 32-inch LCD TVs, Wi-Fi (fees apply) umbrellas and in-room safety deposit boxes.

Overpriced!

The room was clean, but the price per night was way too high! The room was incredibly small & not worth the price.

Clean, comfortable closet

The location was great. The room was clean and sufficient but way too small for my taste. Good enough for just one night.

Cool vibe, clean and friendly...just a bit small.

I was here for one-night on business and The Marcel fit my needs. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the decor was very cool. My only complaint, like many others, is that the rooms are TINY. Clean, nice...but SMALL.

Good stay on the go

This was a good place to crash for two nights and it was in between our destinations - SoHo and Williamsburg, and very close to east village. In one direction, you have about a 6 block walk to some awesome restaurants (namely, Momofuku), and in the other direction it's the same distance to the train, that takes two stops before Bedford St (be sure to try Everyman Espresso for coffee before getting on the train). The hotel also offers a town car service to the airport for $40 - better than a cab and very accommodating.

Momofuku for dinner, Booker and Dex for drinks, and Everyman Espresso for coffee.

Hot and cramped

Location was perfect for our needs. The room was very small, could barely walk around the bed. The bathroom had zero counterspace- made it very difficult to put makeup on, and also very small. The heater was not working well and we roasted, even with the "high cool" on. Would stay again, just because of the location.

New but quite small!

The hotel is very new and clean, but the room is quite small and the location is not close to a subway station.

Interesting Place....

I know we had the smallest room that they had... so I can imagine if we payed a bit more, probably could have felt a little more spacious, but it felt like a small college dorm room that was "swank-i-fied" by west-elm or other higher-end "Ikea" like decor. The hotel staff was quite friendly. Walls were quite thin and could hear everything around us. THE BED - was pretty comfortable, soft top, firm mattress... The "continental" breakfast cost $12... ???? Why would I pay for cereal, bagels and a bit of fruit for $12??? I could walk outside and go to a great bagel shop for $4??? I would not consider this a four-star place, three-star would be closer....

Not what I expected...

This hotel room was WAY too small. You couldn't fit more than one person in the room, with luggage. The door actually hit the bed when opened. There was no temperature control in the room, so I was sweating one night and freezing another. There was also plumbing issues that caused the water to run the color of mud at one point, but luckily cleared up after running it for 5 minutes.
