Chic decor, luxury amenities at this stylish hotel near Gramercy Park
This hotel is all about style. Its small size (just 135 rooms) and location in the Gramercy Park neighborhood make it feel more intimate and less touristy than a Midtown high-rise property. Modern furniture and animal print accents lend a hip vibe. Frette linens and marble bathrooms provide luxurious touches. A guest lounge offers free coffee and tea and computers for guests to use. Travelers looking for a convenient nightspot can try the unique lounge under the hotel.Highlights
- Luxury linens and marble bathrooms
- Guest lounge with seasonal outdoor terrace
- Unique cocktail bar below the hotel
Location
The neighborhood is known for its historic townhouses. Gramercy Park, however, is private, so only neighborhood residents have access. The blocks just south of the park are full of restaurants, bars and shops. The Flatiron Building, Fifth Avenue and Broadway are just four blocks from the hotel. Union Square is a short walk from the hotel, and from there it's just a couple more blocks to the famous Strand Book Store. Greenwich Village, the East Village other exciting neighborhoods are an easy subway ride away.
Rooms
Rooms are chic and modern, with accents such as animal-print pillows, velvet drapes and leather headboards. Beds are dressed with Frette linens and down comforters. Marble bathrooms have bath products by Lather. Expect in-room amenities including iPod docking stations, bathrobes and slippers, 32-inch LCD TVs, Wi-Fi (fees apply) umbrellas and in-room safety deposit boxes.
Features
The 10th floor guest lounge offers free coffee and tea and computers for guests' use and has an outdoor terrace open seasonally.Hotel guests receive discount passes to the nearby New York Sports Club.
Polar is an arctic-themed club underneath the hotel. The temperature is comfortable, but the decor and private VIP caves are meant to evoke the North Pole. Eighties music, unique cocktails and bottle service round out the experience.

Nice Hotel
I come from Cyprus which is one of the best countries in the Hotel Industry (especially my city Limassol) and i am working for one of them which is Columbia Hotels & Resorts. If i compare the hotel is average. If i do not i can say it is very beautifull boutique hotel which is very clean and that is all i want when i travel abroad. The fact that there is no breakfast, there is a complementary coffee and tea at 10th floor which closes at 10pm and that you pay 10 dollars for internet per devise are really but charactriristics. In our hotel we pay a lot of money every year to provide free internet to all guests. Having to pay so much was really frustrating. For what i wanted from a hotel (Beauty & cleanliness) was perfect

Smaller than expected but overall good
The particular room I stayed in was very small (one double-bed), but it made due. I would recommend making sure what size the room is before booking. Overall, the hotel is very nice. It's located about 20 min walking distance from little italy and 15 min walking distance from the empire state building. I thought the hotel was ideal because it was somewhat in the middle of everything. The staff is very friendly, just make sure to bring your own cotton swabs and cotton balls, they do not have any. Good hotel, a little pricey.

Great staff, extremely friendly and helpful. Clean, modern, fun place to stay. Tiny rooms, but that's what you get for the price in NYC.

Perfectly convenient
I travel to NYC quite often and usually with groups. Most often we stay at larger chain hotels which are fine for what we do but when I'm by myself I prefer the smaller boutique hotels. They offer more personal service and it seems like you're staying in your own apartment. Located in a quieter part of town, if there is such a thing, makes it seem more like your neighborhood. The rooms are small but you really don't need a big room because you're hardly ever there. Unless you plan on doing some entertaining, they are just enough. Clean and comfortable. My only thoughts on the negative side, if any, are that the elevators seem to have a mind of their own and sometimes go right past your floor while waiting.

There are more than enough markets and restaurants in the immediate area and all the subways are within easy walk so you can get anywhere.

Room for half a person first night
On the first night we were given a room that could barely fit a single bed. It was more like a closet. There was no closet. no minibar. one could stretch both hands and touch the walls... only on the second night were we given a normal sized room. Be aware.

Great location, clean and friendly
The Marcel Hotel was perfect for us. Great location, safe and clean. The staff was very friendly and I would stay here again without hesitation. Bedding was very comfortable. We stayed in a standard room with Queen size bed which was ample. Reason for trip was to visit family only 2 blocks from hotel - could not have picked a better location. Restaurants and shopping are literally outside the front entrance, a few steps away. Parking garage is also across from hotel! Michael at the front desk was the most friendly attendant and started my stay on a happy note, thank you!
