Over the top Clean & NIce
This hotel smelled clean when you were in the hallways - it was so pleasant and the decor was really comfortable and pretty - it made you feel like you were in a really homey place in the midst of the city.

Short walk from hotel
A convenience/drugstore, laundry, and grocery store every few blocks, yet as many nice restaurants; Central Park, Riverside Park for sightseeing; subway 1 block away. Two phenomenal discount clothing stores within 4-6 blocks and great walking. The restaurant in the building was excellent.

Quality Service + Accomodations
The Lucerne provided excellent accomodations and staff was very accomodating and responsive to our needs. The room was clean and comfortable. The central location of the hotel provided easy access to downtown New York.

Excellent Room
Located in a safe, upscale neighborhood of NYC, it had wonderful restaurants and attractions just minutes from the entrance. Both of us agreed that the mattress was superbly comfortable and the pillows perfect. Beautifully appointed with wonderful fabrics, it couldn't have been a better stay.

My review of The Lucerne
The Lucerne is ideally situated in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the most neighborhood like area of NY. The rooms are a bit small but they have been tastefully redone as have the sparkling clean bathrooms. We did not try the restaurant based on some bad reviews. There are plenty of diners and other restaurants in this area to waste money on so so food and indifferent service. My husband liked the flat screen tv, I liked the new linens on the bed.

Zabar's is down the street, as is Filene's and Lincoln Center is less than a mile, as is the Museum of Natural History and planeterium. Central Park is a short walk too and Riverside Park is just down the street. Columbia Uni is just 25 blocks up, Can't beat this location.

Great value for NYC
We spent two nights, arrived at midnight with two small children. Everything was excellent except for check-out - we waited over an hour for our car and I had to ask three times about it. I finally got the bell hop to move things along.

Sprightly older couple
Completely lovely stay recently
This was our most comfortable stay in New York City ever. The room was large and well-lighted, the beds comfortable, the location on the upper west side of Manhattan perfect, even Nice Matin through the lobby door. We really like this part of the city with its many restaurant choices, easy public transportation, closeness to Roosevelt and Central Parks. We enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood better (our third stay in the area), went to a show, explored a new Irish pub in midtown we hadn't visited before, walked, window-shopped, did a little shopping.

We had a great time at Fred's Cafe at the corner of Amsterdam and 83rd Street. If you are a doglover, you will appreciate the pictures of canine friends that grace the walls. The food was lovely, the atmosphere friendly and neighborly, the decor interesting and pleasant. We had the feeling there were many repeat customers there.

Loves Kids, Loves to Teach
Fabulous hotel, location, and price!
We loved this charming hotel! The staff was friendly and efficient, the rooms were spotless, and the location on the Upper West Side was perfect for us. We were dropping off a student at Columbia, but wanted to see as much of Manhattan as possible. The hotel is 2 blocks from Central Park and one block from the subway station. The bathroom was a little small, but was spotless, and everything was totally renovated. We can't wait to stay at the Lucerne on our next visit to New York!

A Great Place to Stay
Hotel was very comfortable; bed was excellent; all services, including concierge, were fast, knowledgeable, and friendly; neighborhood is great for food, walking, Lincoln Center, Central Park and more. Easy to drive to, since 79th Street has ramp onto West Side Highway; easy to get there by subway, too. will use it again.
