Great pre-wedding stay
I stayed at the Lucerne for 3 nights before my wedding. The room was spacious, comfortable, well-designed and just what I needed. The location was excellent. Free drinks for guests in the lobby one afternoon was a nice touch. No additional lounges or separate bar from the adjoining public restaurant, but that didn't really matter. One major problem which needs urgent action by the management was my plastic card room key was turned off in error by the hotel when I popped out to get ice from the machine so I was stranded outside the room an hour before my wedding. The reception staff refused to let me back in the room without ID, which was of course locked in the room, even though they acknowledged it was the hotel's mistake. I would have missed my wedding had I not miraculously been able to get hold of my passport. Staff were unsympathetic and hostile. An unacceptable blot on an otherwise excellent hotel, needing urgent attention by the management/owner .

Perfect NYC getaway
Lovely, clean, great location. Staff was attentive. Room was average size, very clean, and recently renovated. Our trip was a getaway weekend for two middle-aged businesswomen and our teen-age daughters. Wonderful location, close to Central Park. Very safe, even late at night. Subway is around the corner. Restaurant next to hotel was good, but overpriced. Definitely would stay at the Lucerne again.

Good location, very friendly staff, pricey though
We stayed here during the Thanksgiving\Christmas season on weekend, which may account for the somewhat steep price of $480.00 a night. We reserved a premium room. Not sure what the premium was. No view, other than the outside wall of another section of the hotel. Bathroom is cramped and outdated. No centrol heat or A/C. So the room was cold when we first got there and we could never warm up the bathroom floor which was always ice cold. But, heck, it's an old building in NewYork. So, it's not going to have the amenties that most newer properties consider standard. It sis have free wi-fi though!

A great stay for a quick trip to New York
My wife and I headed to NYC for our anniversary and stayed 4 nights at the Lucerne. It was perfect for us. The room was small, but I understand it's like that all over NYC. The queen bed was an excellent last stop after long days of walking around the city. One block from the Subway, 2-3 blocks from Central Park, and lots of restaurants all around the hotel make this a prime location. We didn't have that great view you hear about, but we were on the 11th floor and that was nice. Also, the water pressure and temperature were great! My wife loved having a nice-sized bath tub to soak in at the end of the day. Another nice touch was having doormen. The staff were accommodating and we were comfortable, which is important when staying in NYC! We recommend the Lucerne 100%.

Black Friday
My boyfriend and I stopped into the city on Black Friday and stayed here. The hotel was great holding our bags so we could go out on the town before checking in. Once we were in the room I was completely impressed...no street traffic noise or even guest noise. I have stayed in many places throughout the city but this was the first time on the Upper West and so perfectly close to the park. Make sure you get breakfast at The Boathouse in Central Park!

Look elsewhere, not worth it!!
The only things this hotel has going for it is the location and "free" Internet, although I use that loosely because at $300-400 a night, it's in the cost. This hotel is straight out of the 1980's and needs a lot of TLC. Everything is old and very dated. Floors are very nasty...picture super old, pink carpet that you wouldn't want to be caught barefoot on. Room, including the bathroom are super small....and they offer a tiny non-HD TV with it. Hotel staff is below average, and not very friendly. This is a place that is wanting to be called a boutique hotel but misses the mark badly. Would never stay here again! Definitely look elsewhere for this price point.
