Excellent choice
Ok so the hotel's location is not to be beaten. Literally across the street from the park. Staff was friendly and helpful and took care of all our needs yes 4 cocktails were 50 bucks in the hotel bar but New York isn't cheap. Walking distance to mid town and near enough to subways.

NYC Outsider
Extremely happy 1st timer to this hotel.
I visit NYC often & had never stayed here before. But---I definitely will again! This is one of the better hotels I have stayed in, from the service, room, friendliness, etc. And, it was one of the quieter locations. I slept better here than any NYC hotel I've ever slept in. I bring people with me often from 1 to 70 people & I know the hotels & the city better than my own & I will recommend this hotel! My ONLY negative was that the hotel restaurant wasn't open for dinner but with all the great restaurant in the city, it wasn't a problem & Sarabeth's next door is excellent.

Short walk from hotel
It's close enough to everything in Midtown & since I love to walk in the city, no distance was a problem for me.

Great location, very clean, reasonable..
First time in New York, was pleasantly surprised. Hotel was exceptional, very clean, hotel water always smells, however, Helmsley's hotel water was great tasting. Not far from the subway. Did a lot of walking, experienced the cab rides, hilarious! Food great, expensive but to be expected, I guess. Negative points, were no refills on ice tea, sodas, that's after you pay 2.50 to 2.75 for a glass. Will be back, no doubt! Susan, from Ohio

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
There's so much to see and do, If you can afford it, stay longer, if not, take mini trips, because you can always find different things to see and do. I would always go to a show, comedy club, when coming to new york. Use taxi cabs when ever there is a long distance to walk, saves on the feet.

Great Location. Unbeatable views!
We were fortunate to book a room on one of the executive floors. Rooms on these floors have been recently renovated and are huge by New York City standards. The room was clean and very comfortable. Staff at the hotel were very thoughtful. After a full day of New York City activities, there was a plate of cookies waiting for us in the room upon our return in the evening. A nice touch! We had breakfast daily in the restaurant on the second floor. The setting was beautiful with tables overlooking Central Park South and Central Park itself. The location of the Park Lane cannot be beat. It's close to everything in Midtown and literally steps away from the subway. Also, its location just across the street from Central Park gives its rooms simply stunning views. It was great to wake up in the morning to views of the sun rising over Central Park. An unforgettable experience.
