Elegance and Service
The hotal was terrific. The people were so nice from the Receptions staff, the concierge, the bellmen to the bartenders. The concierge service was spot on in all of their recommendations. We were treated with the style and grace that we expected from a hotel of this calibre. The location was great, especially with the Grey Line stop across the street. We had no problems getting anywhere we wanted to go either by walking or with a short cab ride.

UNBEATABLE LOCATION FOR THE PRICE
Location was great - we were able to travel by transit service - and walking. Once we got to our destination - everything else was easy to get to. We enjoyed our stay very much although has the concierge helped we would have been able to take a trip to Philadelphia (He the concierge was not very helpful - wanted to put us on the subway which we did not want - we wanted a tour) When we travel to Paris - the concierge at the hotel was very helpful in booking our tours, helping with the bus passes, etc. but not in New York - you go at it by yourself. Every question we asked the concierge - he did not know the answer - where do we catch the bus, how do we pay for it, etc. - his answer don't know! So we stop asking him and went at it alone.

Time-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
What we brought with us are the brochures so that we can show my son how to get around New York - including the brochure for the hop-on-hop-off - you see there is a cut off time when you buy a 48hour pass which they don't tell you at the time of purchase - there is a daytime and a night time pass - the daytime cuts offat 6p.m and you need to be on the bus by at least 3:30p.m. to actually make it back to the point where you got on, otherwise - too bad you are left standing in the middle of a far away place - you take the bus, or a cab. -

Hotel in the right neighborhood
If you consider this hotel, take a room with Parkview, It cost you more but it is worth it. But not lower than the 11th floor, otherwise you have 'streetview' . The hotel charges $15,00 per day for free internet AND free phone calls, as much as you like. This is nice, but more or less mandatory!. The hotel has a perfect location in Manhattan for all kind of attractions.

Wonderful Room and Staff!
The Hotel location near Central Park made it easy to walk to most places we wanted to see. We traveled by pedi-cab, cabs, carriage, and the subway, all within easy access to the Helmsley Park Lane. The Concierge was really helpful with restuarant reservations and sight-seeing tips. Friends warned that NY city hotel rooms were really small, but our room was larger than most hotel rooms where we have stayed (and had three closets in our room!). There was a terrific resturant (The Green Cafe) right out the back door of the hotel that had great breakfast choices at very reasonable prices.

Great hotel Great location Great staff
Great hotel and friendly staff. Right next to the park and great view if you get a park side room. Room wasn't ready when we arrived, but within 20 minutes it was. They offered to take our bags so we could site see, but we opted to just wait. The room was well worth it.

perfect location in manhattan!
If you are looking for a central hotel in Manahattan it is perfect. The city view is amazing Near to all attractions, 2 minutes to 5th Avenue, in front of the park, 10 minutes walking to Museum of natural History, and very close to the underground. Many restaurants in the same area are the best in Manhattan.

The Helmsley Park Lane
The Helmsley Park Lane is very conveniently located across from Central Park. There's a subway entrance very close, horse and carriage rides across the street, lots of places to eat in easy walking distance (which was good because their prices for food were really high), and a huge toy store a block away. The room was clean, though a little cold for my preference (remedied by closing the curtains in front of the a/c unit). The only issue we had is that they added a $15./ day communication charge, which we had declined, which prevented us from using the quick drop off to check out. They removed the charges immediately when requested. Cab fare from Laguardia was $30 or $35 plus tip; to JFK was a flat rate, $50 I believe. My child's favorite part was the revolving door in the front. Overall, a great experience, and I would stay there again.

Centered at Central Park
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Helmsley. The staff was very friendly including: the receptionist at check in, the bellman, and security. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The location was super--within short walking distance to Central Park, 5th Avenue Shopping, and Time Square.
