a little long in the tooth
This is a well-located hotel on Central Park South, but it needs up-dating and is short on staffing. Everyone who works there is nice, but the under-staffing makes for long waits--a hour for a table for breakfast(?!) on both mornings I stayed there. One doorman in the wintertime handling baggage, front door, taxis, etc.-- it just can't be done properly like this. The place itself has a bare bones look that is not due to a minimalist modern vision; rather, it has an empty lobby devoid of character, amenities or much assistance. The rooms too need upgrading. Bathrooms don't seem up to the standards of a luxury hotel.

Awesome Location
Well, you can't get a better location than this one! Right across the street from Central Park. The staff was very friendly and were very helpful throughout our 2 day stay. As for the room itself, it was very nice, however the decor is ever so slightly dated. The bathroom could use an upgrade, however everything works fine and the bath products are super! I would have given 4 or 5 stars for cleanliness, however the maid missed a piece of bread near the window left by the previous guests, so I can only give it a 3. Overall, a great experience! Not totally unreasonable price considering the location.

If you can afford this hotel on New Year's Eve and want to attend the festivities, reserve a restaurant on 7th ave and attend the festivities there. Avoid the huge crowd that gathers up 7th avenue. It's hours and hours of waiting around for a show of about 15 minutes. You can't even hear the concert from anywhere beyond 45th street.

Nice location but tired interior
Great views if you have a park view room. The interior is very dated, bathrooms are motel style. All clean yet it needs updating

Lovely view
This place was great, wonderful location, fantastic view,! Mostly a very nice staff although some of them did put on airs which was a slightly annoying yet amusing at the same time.... Rooms could use a makeover, its old school elegant, and a little worn around the edges, but very clean, and no complaints...We had a great time and even stayed an extra night!

Beautiful Hotel Poorly Managed
We booked this hotel for the location on Central Park for a one night stay to enjoy Christmas in New York. We arrived early (9am) and checked in and we were told that our room with 2 double beds would be ready in a couple of hours. The lobby was beautifully decorated. We returned at 4:30 and we were offered an upgrade for an additional $50, which we declined. The clerk told us it would be another 45 min. wait for our room. I explained that we were tired and he offered us 1 double bed and a rollaway for my 12 year old daughter along breakfast in the morning. The room was clean, beautiful with a comfortable bed and crisp white sheets. Unfortunately, the rollaway bed never arrived. After we returned back to the room at 11:15pm, my husband went back down to the lobby to inquire about the bed. Another phone call and 45 min. later a bed arrived- a box spring with a mattress pad and sheets- and no apologies. We had breakfast in the hotel the next morning- again, a beautiful room, beautifully decorated. The continental breakfast was pathetic (people were walking out) and the service was poor- we never saw our waiter after we placed our order. We served ourselves coffee and juice from the waiter's station. We were very disappointed. This hotel is in a perfect location. It was clean and beautiful. It is really too bad that it is managed so poorly.

If you plan to visit the World Trade Center Memorial, you need to arrive early to pick up a visitor entrance pass for an assigned time to visit. The Memorial is breathtaking.
