Perfect location and wonderful place to stay

Lovely entrance lobby lots of comfortable seats for picking up wifi and at night made a comfortable bar area. Rooftop terrace was very special - pool is great way to cool down after sight seeing but its only two lengths wide so don't expect a full size pool - however we used it pretty much each night as it was empty a lot of the time. Bathroom in room was clean and modern double shower full walk in and beds really comfortable - air con great and location is fab 20 mins by foot from time square and two subways within 5 mins- lifts had a few issues but there was always one available for us.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Parking is a bit expensive but there are garages within short walking distance. I believe they charged $55 for 24 hour parking. Valet is also available.

loved it

This boutique hotel is centrally located to so many NYC sites (Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle & Central Park to name a few.) The hotel lobby has a very cool "vibe" and the ultra-chaos of NYC is somehow avoided here. Rooms are small, but that is NYC for you! I'll be back for sure.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Around the corner is both a Starbucks and a convenience store - great places to get the caffeine fix and snacks for the room!

The rooftop bar and pool area turns into a night club in the evening. The pool is tiny and heavily chlorinated but it is something to jump in. You'll want to check with the hotel before booking and ensure the elevators are functioning properly

PERFECT LOCATION for Lincoln Center and a few blocks to WICKED!

Perfect location for going to LINCOLN Center and just a few blocks walk to WICKED!!! Loved the hotels location, room is small but that's common in NYC. They were having a problem with the elevators (only 2 of the 4 were working) - so had to take the stairs a few times. It was clean and it was a very short walk to the Subway and the Gershwin to see WICKED!!! Safe and also easy to get to from JFK - one subway line all the way to Columbus Circle, then walk to the hotel.

Staycation

We stayed here with our 7 month old for the weekend while out apt got worked on. It's a nice hotel. Good location for out of towers. Close to Lincoln center, Central Park and museums. They provided a crib with bumpers for our daughter. The walls are thin but nothing horrible. We just had some loud neighbors.

Room service is incredibly expensive. Download 'seamless' on your phone and order delivery from many local places and they will deliver to the front desk.

Excellent location and good value

I recently stayed with my young son for his first NYC visit. The hotel is located in an ideal location--next to Central Park, across from Lincoln Center, near the metro and close to tons of restaurants. The rooftop bar is a great addition and provides for the quintessential Manhattan experience! I thought this hotel was a great value too.

Fantastic Hotel- Room, Staff and Location

We could not have been more pleased. It was a college tour trip with my son who just turned 18. The front desk staff member sent up a plate of chocolate covered strawberries with a Happy Birthday note! so kind and thoughtful. The room was excellent. It was clean and welcoming. The location couldn't have been better. We will stay here again. love love loved it!!

Pleasantly surprised.

Have walked past this hotel often on other trips to NYC. I knew that at one time the building housed college students. Things have changed. This "new" Empire Hotel is very nicely redone. Decor is very nice, staff is most helpful. and the roof top pool and lounging area is extra special. Of course, you cannot beat it bring directly across the street from Lincoln Center with subway stops just a block away. I enjoyed the stay very much and will stay there again.
