The Empire Hotel

Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. If had been a large person, would not have been able to move around either. Overkill to have such a small refrig stocked with the surplus of alcohol. Too high price tray of "amenities" available to purchase. Cigarette butts on window ledge. Next building right up against our window at "V" angle. Difficult to regulate room temperature. Heard elevator sounds during night. Too much lighted electrical equipment in room at night. No coffee in hotel for AM. No shower door to close. Bed comfortable. Called twice to get ice to room needed for sprained ankle.

Hotel looked very nice....main elevator had button for pool level but was a trip up 2 flights stairs to locked service door....Rooms nice but very small...no view....great shower sprayer but no door on shower...water everywhere...valet parking $60 per day...

No waste bin in bathroom, no bath mat after day one, not enough hangers in cupboard. Hideous, drab decor colours. Friendly but rather inefficient staff. Poor website/room information proved to be incorrect in several areas.

The Empire Hotel is ideally located next to Lincoln Center, steps away from central Park and a 15 minute walk from 5th Ave shopping. Rooms have been recently upgraded and are fine, with a comfortable bed. Staff is friendly and helpful But this is an old hotel with an old heating and central air system. the room was very warm, and the poor cooling system could not cool it off. Better values in NYC for the price, with newer hotels.

Good location. Small room and very tiny bathroom. Rooms could use some sprucing up, but the price was reasonable.

Empire Hotel was fairly decent, and in a great location across the street from Lincoln Center, but it wasn't a 4-star hotel. Though the room was small, the beds were comfortable and clean. The bathroom, however, was ridiculously cramped and poorly designed. There was only a partial glass shower door, so water sprayed out of the shower stall from the other half all over the floor.. The shower knob didn't turn and work well, so we either got scalding hot water, or freezing cold water. The sink was designed poorly, so when you turned onn the water, it automatically ricocheted off the sink onto the person using it.. The bathroom was so small that you had to close the door to get access to the toilet paper behind the bathroom door. All in all, it was a very poorly designed bathroom. Staff was courteous, but we checked in at 3:30 and had to wait until 4:00 to get access to our room, even though check-in time is 3:00 p,m. Stay away from the noisy 2nd floor rooms, the 4th floor which is a smoking floor, and the 11th floor, which is right under the Empire's rooftop bar, where everyone parties noisily until 4:00 a,m.

Stayed here for the night for my wife was running the NY half marathon. Absolute perfect location. We woke up and literally walked a block to the starting point in central park. Close to alot of shops and great restaurants. Stayed in the standard queen room which was very small and overall did not seem like the room itself was contructed with care. Paint splotches on the walls, crooked fixtures and just seemed like it was put together quickly. For the cost of the room, I would expect alot better quality.

Hotel is located near by the main attraction areas in NYC such as the Central Park, Time Square and 5th Avenue. It's a good option if you are seeking for a weekend break as everything is near you & you have many places to dine from. Although rooms were too small & didn't have outdoor view but it was ok as it's normal in NYC hotels.

Excellent location. Our room had a view overlooking Lincoln Center...ideal as we merely walked across the street to see our daughter perform with American Ballet Theatre at the Metropolitan Opera House. Would have enjoyed a coffee-maker in the room. Far and away better than the hotels we stayed at on previous visits. In evening bedding turned down and cookie treat left on night stand. Terry cloth robes, umbrella available for use. More space would be available in room if chose room with one bed rather than two (this 2-bed room was available to occupy on our early arrival).

We bought a New York City pass and toured the entire island. I would recommend doing that again; from the Top of the Rock, Ellis Island, NBC studios, Empire State building, and the big red bus. As our first trip, with the Empire Hotel tied in, I would rate it an 8.
