unbeatable location for the price
Excellent location. Our room had a view overlooking Lincoln Center...ideal as we merely walked across the street to see our daughter perform with American Ballet Theatre at the Metropolitan Opera House. Would have enjoyed a coffee-maker in the room. Far and away better than the hotels we stayed at on previous visits. In evening bedding turned down and cookie treat left on night stand. Terry cloth robes, umbrella available for use. More space would be available in room if chose room with one bed rather than two (this 2-bed room was available to occupy on our early arrival).

Nice but small rooms, tiny and cold pool
Interiors are recently renovated, very modern and stylish, although I'm personally not a great friend of the dark brown color scheme. Rooms are very nice but small. You can't find the floorspace to do some push-ups in either their one-queenbed or even a two-queenbed room. You can't get breakfast at the hotel, but there are plenty of options within a block. The rooftop pool not warm and very small, though the views are nice there. The nightclub crowd is going to like this hotel 'cause as a guest you get in the VIP line into the pretty cool bar/nightclub with a retractable roof on top. Thu-Sat nights there's a long line of non-guests waiting to get in.

Tiny rooms, Too Expensive
I was shocked to see a 20% service charge for drinks for 4 people. 10-15% is standard. Wine glasses were not changed in the rooms. Had to call several times(we were there 5 days) for new wash clothes and bath mat. Tiny rooms, no storage space, bathroom tiny as well. Much prefered the Chambers Hotel, but this was more convenient to where our son lived. We would not recommend at the price we paid.

Great hotel and location
The rooms are small but roomy, spotlessly clean. The staff is helpful, polite, and a real joy to interact with. You can't beat this location for restaurants, transportation, or entertainbment (Lincoln Center is acccross the street). Outstanding!

Cozy yet Elegant
The Empire Hotel was inviting and chic. The staff was helpful, the lounge area was stunning and the ambiance was great. Although the room was a bit small, the furniture was very comfortable. The location was excellent as it was near restaurants, the subway and the Lincoln Center!

Great location
I stayed at the Empire New York while in the city on business and it was very close to my destination. It's easy to get to and it's not a high rise (which I prefer if possible). Lincoln Center is literally across the street. The room was very clean and modern. It seemed bigger than some of the other hotels I've stayed at in NYC. The bed was super comfortable. The shower was a bit small, but it did the job. The bar looked nice and there were lots of tables if you wanted a quieter place to talk. I'd definitely go back again.

Great Spot
We found this hotel to be perfect for our first New York stay. It is centrally located near Central Park, Lincoln Center and is only a short cab ride to the theater district. The staff was great and accomodated our every wish. The room was comfortable and the bed was great. The bath was a little cramped but given that this hotel was first built in the '20s it was fine. My only complaint was that the AC didn't keep the room cool enough at night. Often I slept on top of the bed instead of in it. There is no real in hotel food services but PJ Clarke's next door was a real plus. Room service could be had however.

If you stay at the Empire and wish to see Ellis Island, it is less than half a block to the subway. Take the number one train and it will take you right to Battery Park and the South Ferry terminal. It took all of 20 minutes to get from the hotel to the terminal and the subway ride...$2.00! Best deal in the city.

Great Location
The Empire was at Lincoln Center which was centrally located in Manhatten Our room was small but had a desk and sitting area. The King size bed was very comfortable with first class bedding. Only dining was breakfast buffet on the top floor . Fortunately PJ Clarks was next door. We appreciated having an umbrella provided since it rained all weekend. We would definitely stay here again. Housekeeping did a great job and the bedtime cookies were a great treat.

This hotel's location is what sold us but the property and staff. I would recommend a Junior Suite as the standard room is a bit small.
